Newbie-Which ONE character meal is a must

We just got back from the following

Donald's Breakfastasourus
Chef Mickey
1900 Park Fare with Cinderella and gang
Princess Breakfast
Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace for dinner was the best food Buffet hands down! It was very good, but then you don't have Mickey and gang there

Comparing Donald's (breakfast) and Chef Mickey (dinner) I much prefered Donald's. Same characters but in my own opinion better food! Plus we ate before AK opened!

My vote would be for Chef Mickey's Breakfast if I only had one place.

Hi AnnMarie, you know your family best which is a great place to start from. It sounds as if you want a combination of budget friendly (as much as one can be in WDW), characters and good food. Breakfasts are always a bit cheaper than dinners by a little bit. You can always do the latest seating that will place the timing closer to an early lunch if that works for your family. As for characters it's a safe bet to determine which of the Disney charcters your sons would like to meet and see if they are available for one of the meals. That way you have a good chance of them seeing them close up than waiting in lines in the parks to meet them. This past April we tried Chef Mickey's for the first time for breakfast. All including the nieces 5 and 8 enjoyed the meal and the characters. That morning we saw Pluto, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck all dressed up in chef outfits. We did two other character meals but they were more princess related for the nieces. We had a good dinner at 1900 park faire for Cinderella's Gala Feast (great interaction with Suzy and Perla that evening) and had lunch at the castle that was more for the experience of eating in the castle than the value and food. One thing about buffets is they have a lot more options for those that may be picky eaters in your group.
