Newbie to Universal Parks

Which books are best for planning my US & IOA tours? I noticed a few sites/books mentioned... which should I use? Are these books sold at Barnes & Nobles or do they need to be ordered online? If online is the only way to go... is there websites/links that you can give me?
We've decided that we're ready to go commando style at the parks for a few days to get it all in. Now I just have to spend the time planning it out. I'm a little nervous trying to plan something that I've never even seen...

Also... Is there anyway to get US to send current park maps or additional park info pamphlets/brochures?

I would go here and order his book (or yes you can get it at the book store). Its a very through book with lots of great info.

As far as brochures that are recent Universal doesnt send them out. I will be there the end of this month if you would like, I can send you them when I return. There used to be a website that mailed out lots of orlando brochures for a fee but I cant remember the site...anyone?

We will be going to Universal for the first time ever. My comando style husband has always insisted on Disney and onsite for 7 full days or more to boot.

So now enter the Universal option b/c we are traveling with DH parents to Disney for 8-10 days and they have been and want to return to Universal. We are also traveling with our DD7 and DD4.

Some Questions:
Are the US and IoA more adult/teen oriented theme parks?
Will my little ones still enjoy these thrill rides (which they love at Disney ToT, BTM, SM etc...) or are there height restrictions? (my oldest is probably 50" and my little one 42")
Which park US or IoA is more geared, if at all, to younger children?
If we only have one day what park is recommended US or IoA?
We are planning to go early Nov. is this low season like Disney?

Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster® - Must be at least 36”

Jurassic Park River Adventure® - Must be at least 42”

Pteranodon Flyers® - Must be at least 36” ; 36” to 56” must be accompanied by an adult. Guests over 56” must be accompanied by a guest meeting this requirement.

Dueling Dragons® - Must be at least 54”.

Flying Unicorn® - Must be at least 36”


Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls® - Must be at least 44”

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges® - Must be at least 42”

Incredible Hulk Coaster® - Must be at least 54”.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® - Must be at least 40”
