Newbie renter question: X-mas week

So, I've decided to try to schedule a trip during Christmas Week. (I'm a teacher with no other time to visit if we want to 'do' Christmas at Disney

My neighbor (who happens to be on vacation now!) is a DVC owner and I'm hoping to buy points from him.

Here's my question. We want a standard view studio at any of the DVC resorts for 12/24-12/29. (First choice is BWV, 2nd choice VWL--but heck, it's Disney at Christmas. We'll enjoy any DVC). Are the studios already waitlisting? While reading the Dec. Waitlisting thread, it looks like most folks on the waitlist want 2Bdr. If my neighbor can sell me his points this week, do you think we'll find a studio at one of the resorts?

Stndard views only at BWV, do not think you will get one. Probally best bet we be OKW or SSR. Good luck.

You are still a bit more than 7 months out, so there is some hope of some reservation. Have your neighbor QUICKLY make you a reservation wherever they happen to own. Then have them waitlist you for BWV and VWL. I agree that a Standard View at BWV is close to impossible - that one is gone during the first few days even if it's not Christmas Week. Also VWL at Christmas is the most popular because of the awesome decorations, so that is probably not available. You might get in through the waitlist though. The important thing is to lock down some ressie before the 7 month window opens and it becomes a free for all. You still will have several months for that waitlist to come through.

We've never stayed at any DVC resort, so we'll be easy to please in any studio. I would just prefer BWV due to its proximity to Epcot and MGM.

Again, how could I be disappointed? I'll be at Disney at Christmas!!!

I have to be honest, I own at BWV and I can tell you I doubt you'd have any luck getting BWVilla at this point for that timeperiod. I do wish you luck.

I would have your connection call as soon as possible this week and see what is available. My best guess would be OKW or SS.

It does depend a bit on what size unit you are looking for too. A one bedroom might be easier than a studio.

Actually the 7-month window for this reservation opened on May 30th (even earlier for those who book day-by-day at 7 months). So your neighbor is not limited to booking at his/her home resort, but can book/waitlist anywhere. Best to have him/her book whatever might still be available so that you have something guaranteed and waitlist at the other resorts you mentioned. I agree that BWV standard view will be next to impossible. I own at BWV and, like others here, booked a standard view villa day-by-day back in January (11 months out).

7 months was end of May, they are past 7 months for the 12-29 date... Right now it is first week of Jan.

Possibly. I called about the 30th and 31st today at any resort... The 30th is available only at SSR but 31 isn't anywhere. I have a feeling that some days may be easier than others.. Days like Christmas eve or day might be a waitlist.

OP, have them waitlist ASAP.
