Newbie questions

You're going to deal with people who came for OBB on Halloween and stayed for the weekend, Veteran's Day (possible 4 day weekend), or the beginning of the holiday season. I am not an expert in crowd sizes but my instinct is that Holidays would be the most crowded, followed by Veteran's Day, followed by Halloween stragglers. What do others think?
Well, from my one data point, November 6-9 last year was wonderful.

Just a thank you for everyone contributing to this thread. I've been to WDW many times and I'm looking at Disneyland for the first time (was supposed to go in 2020) and the tips in here have been super helpful to get ideas of when and how long.

Start a new thread with info about your travel party, where you are thinking of staying, how many days, time of year, interests, etc. and you'll receive lots of suggestions.

Thanks. I probably will as it gets closer. Right now its probably early May 2026, a solo trip, and the Best Western Plus across the street. I think I want to do arrive Monday and do Tues-Fri in the parks (4 days). I know a lot of people say 3 days is enough, but since I'm coming from the east coast and my experience with jet lag going in that direction hasn't been the best, I'd like an extra day to be able to go at a slower pace and take breaks. I'd also like time for the Walt's Main Street tour.

Crowds at DLR are very dependent on MK (Magic Key) block outs, since many guests are locals. This is very different to WDW, where school calendars and holidays align best with crowds. So the lower crowds are often when the most MKs are blocked from the parks. There are 4 levels of MKs at DLR. The highest level of MK (Inspire) has no black outs other than Christmas time, so no need to look at that calendar for a November trip.

Of the remaining three MKs, the lower 2 MKs are blocked out 11/15 and 11/16, and Believe keys are blocked 11/15 (of your proposed travel dates). For comparison, all three lower level MKs are blocked 11/7, 11/8 and 11/9 (of the prior week proposed travel dates). For the other dates, Imagine is blocked 11/1 and 11/2. Enchant and Believe are only blocked 11/1. Inspire is not blocked on any dates during any of the times you mentioned.

I can’t tell which dates you are exactly targeting, but here is the link to the black out calendar (choose each type of key to get that key’s blackout dates; ignore Inspire since it only has block outs at Christmas time):
