Hello, I'm new at pin trading and was hoping someone could answer my questions. I was looking on pinpics and found the pin I have to trade on it(# 5747-Mickey in a plane-Toronto). Now how do you find out what the other people would trade for it? I don't want to ask for too rare of a pin or not enough rarity. Is there a rule of thumb when trading or a list saying which pins belong in which category of pin trading? Thankyou for any help :0)

Pin trading boils down to supply vs. demand. To judge the tradability, a lot of people look at the ratio between Pinpics members trading vs. members wanting. If you have a lot of people trading and not many people wanting, the pin is pretty common.

Your pin, #5747, has no one trading it but 27 wanting it. The demand isn't high, but the supply is VERY low. If you want to trade it, I would be extremely careful and be sure of the pin that you want to trade it for. If you're unsure, you can always ask someone else for their opinionon the equitability of a trade offer, either on the board or in e-mail.

Also, you can check someone's references over on Dizpins' reference list. DW Lauri (MeanLaureen) and I have traded with or met quite a few people from the boards, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask us.

I agree with Matt......it is mostly about supply and demand.


The people here are a great resource for whether a trade offer seems 'fair'. Part of that also has to fall into whether or not both parties in the trade are happy!

Just for an example, I wouldn't trade for your pin for a pin that is still on the racks.
