I have been to Disney several times but have never been to US/IO. My wife, 11 year old daughter and I are planning to go to US/IO for 2 nights before my next trip to Disney in February '07.

We are DVC members and are a bit spoiled when it comes to room size. (We do not really like All Star Resorts)

We presently have reservations at RPH. Are the rooms similar to All Star at Disney?

Also, have you ever heard of HRH or PBH having a minimum stay of 3 nights to get reservations. I am able to get reservations at HRH for Thurs.-Sun but not Sat.- Sun on the same weekend. :confused3

Any other advice you can offer for our first rip to US/IO is also welcome. We are really look forward to this visit! :yay:

Have you tried booking online?

The rooms at RPH are the smallest of the three hotels but they are much more nicely appointed than All Stars. If you want more space, try the deluxe rooms at HRH.

What are the dates you are planning to go?

Congratulations on your first trip to Universal. I stayed at the HRH last year and found the room to be a much better size than at POR at Disney. The best part for you is the Express Pass. You will be spoiled going to the front of the line with your room key. It is way better than Fastpass at Disney. My daughters were 11 and 9 when we were there. They LOVED it. Have fun!

We will be staying there Fri, Feb. 16-18! I am assuming this is a busy weekend but will plan accoringly. We will then move to a 2BR at OKW.

Universal has no hotels on the realm of the All Stars, only on the equal of the moderates and the deluxes. I stayed in the All Stars once and the RPR 3 times and the All Stars was not only tighter but very cartoonish, almost Day's Inn-ish to me. The RPR can be compared more to the Polynesian.

If you are accustomed to more space I suggest your try the suites. All 3 hotels offer suites though quite pricy. I am also used to more space since we rent pool homes mostly but go to the onsite Universals PRIMARILY for the Express Pass. It's worth any price!

When I first tried to book my stay at RPR for July 07 online, I also thought that it wouldn't allow anything for less than a three night stay, but this was just to book a PACKAGE through the universal website. If you call any of the onsite hotels, you can book for any length of stay, even 1 night. :goodvibes
