I am very interested in spending a couple of nights at the cabins during our late Sept trip. I think the kids (8&5) would love the campfire program, petting zoo etc. I am quite confused about the layout of FW and how one gets around. Would I be able to drive our car up to our cabin? If not, how labourous is the bus system and do you have to drag your luggage to and from cabins on these busses? Also, how far a walk would it be from the cabins to the Trails End BUffeteria, petting zoo, dock, campfire areas? What are the pools like? Thanks for any help! Jo

Each cabin has a spot to park one car. There is an internal bus system which allows you to go from your cabin loop to Trails end
or the bike barn or anywhere else in the campground. There is 15 minute parking at the Meadows trading post store. There are 2 pools, one is next to the laundry mat, it starts at 3ft. The other pool is by the Bike Barn and that pool has a kiddie pool also. The FW pools are not themed pools. We used to rent a golf cart to drive around, but the cost are more than the cost of a car rental,
I think the last time I checked they were 41.00 a day. The bussing system is not bad once you know which color to get on!

The cabins are located on one end of the campground while the Trails end is on the other. It is a straight shot down on the bus to the other end. The FW map indicates that it is one mile (as the crow flies) from one end to the other. We have walked this many times.Take your bikes if you don't want to rent a golf cart. The bus system isn't that bad. You just have to know which bus to get on. There is a smaller pool in the area of the cabins and a larger one by the Meadows trading post.

We got back Sunday from a week at the cabins. I was pleasantly surprised at the bus system. We were four cabins down from the bus stop and the majority of the time the internal bus was there in 5 minutes or less. Yes, once you figure out which color you need to take then it is simple. The outgoing bus system was also good. You just have to account for the time spent on the bus and not be in any hurry. Take it easy. We moved our car only once during the week and that was to go to the trading post. Relax and enjoy. The bus rides actually gave everyone time to unwind and help the kids settle down. A lot of times they fell asleep on the busses.
