We recently had a trip to WL and loved it. After reading several posts here, I am unclear as to the home resort and reservations.

If we, for instance, decided to get 100 pts from WLV and 100 pts from VB, could we make reservations for 11 mo. in advance for 200 pts at the WLV? Also, could you split it even further to 75 WLV, 75VB, and 75 BCV and use any of those as your home resort? I am just trying to get the idea of the value of points vs home resort. Thanks.

At 11 months you could book a 100 point stay at WLV or VB or if you do 3 contracts of 75 at 3 different resorts you could book a vacation using 75 points at each. With banking and borrowing you could bank a year, current year and borrow a year and go every 3 years with 300 points to use at 11 months if you have 2 resorts or 225 points if you have 3 resorts. So say you did the 3 resorts you could go every year but stay at each resort once per 3 year period.

At 7 months you can combine all your points to make a reservation if there is availability. That would depend on how popular the time you choose to travel is for DVC.

BostonMickey - The home resort 11 month advantage applies ONLY to the points you own at that particular resort. So in your example, you could not combine your 100 points at VWL and your 100 points at VB, and make a 200 point reservation at VWL. At 7 months, though, you could do exactly that!!

So in summary, if we bought 100 pts at WLV and 100 pts at VB, we could make a reservation at WLV using only 100pts? Or could we make a reservation at WLV using the total 200 pts?

Thanks Missymouse for your response.

At 11 months you can only use 100 points at WLV, at 7 months you could use all 200 points.

If you want to use 200 points now you would have to borrow your points from the next year which you can do. So say you have a Feb. UY and just got your 100 points today. You could call today for a reservation between say Nov. and Dec. 2007 using the 100 points plus borrow your 2008 points for a total of 200 points.

The only way to make a 200 point reservation at 11 months would be if you either have 100 points already banked for that resort or if you borrow the following years points.

At 11 months, you could only use 100 points at VWL since those are the points you own at that resort, not the points you own at any other resort. At 7 months, points are points and can be used anywhere.
