We are considering become members of the DVC, however, we were doing some cost analysis on DVC vs direct package booking through disney, and I can't find all the info I need...

how much does DDP cost without booking a package through disney?

Is there any discount on park tickets or DDP by being a member of DVC?

Are there more special incentives or promotions?

If not it almost seems to be much more costly for what will probably be a once-annual trip. We loved staying at a moderate resort (CBR) and so the appeal of the luxury "upgrade" we would stay at in DVC is lost on me, especially now with a young child. I go to Vegas to get my spa and drink on. The idea of the DVC is great, but it has to be cost-effective.

Help? Thanks~~

Welcome to the DVC Dis Boards!

The 2009 price for the Disney Dining Plan is $39.99 per day for an adult (10+) and $10.99 per day for a child. There is a Quick Service plan for $29.99 / $8/99, and there is a Deluxe Dining plan for $71.99 / 20.99. There is also a wine option for the DDP and the Deluxe plan for an additional $39.99 per night.

DVC Members can get a discount for an annual pass of about $100 per year, as well as some discounts on park tours, and the Mickey parties (Halloween / Christmas). Any of the discounts can go away at any time, so don't count on them in making your decision.

If you are OK with moderates, then I would not buy. The discounts and programs can change at any time.

Disney DVC is only focusing on making sales. Until they improve the maintenance of the resorts, fix their computer system, and do a better job taking care of their members, I will not be recommending the DVC. :sad2:

I'm in the same boat. I've worked up a spreadsheet comparing prices and am having trouble justifying DVC. Unless you stay exclusively at Deluxe resorts or are paying rack rates at a Moderate resorts, it doesn't seem to pan out. If you have Excel, I'm happing to share the spreadsheet with you. Just send me a PM. You pretty much have to make a decision between the upscale accomodations or accepting less/saving money.
