Newbie Question - Advantages of Renting points

Hi Everybody,

I've looked and couldn't find a FAQ for this - if this has been answered many times over, please someone direct me to the right place.

Could someone detail for me the advantages of renting points for a non DVC member?

I have used the point calculator and know how many points I would need for a particular property at a particular time. We don't have annual passes so I'm a little murky on how all the ticketing to the parks would be handled, etc.

The obvious advantage to me is price and staying at the DVC properties, but was wondering if there were others.

Just considering my options for an upcoming trip and thought that this was worth exploring.

Example: Beach Club Studio, 1 st week of June. 5 nites Sun - Thurs (5th - 9th)

DVC Rental = 65 points x $12.50 (or less) = $812.50 & NO TAX

CRO booking rack rate = $1862.10 PLUS Taxes

Aside from the over $1000 in savings, everything else is about the same as if you had booked thru Disney and were stating onsite... You still need Tickets, which are pretty much the same price either way, still get free parking, etc.

You MAY get some additional DVC member discounts here and there - but we never tried... We were just happy with our bargain on the room.
