Newbie question about reservations

So when you make a res., is it like the regular WDW resorts where you won't know until you get there what room you have? OR can they tell you months in advance? Does it work the same way to request a certain unit or is it just a request and you may get it, may not. All I know I made a res for was AKV, 2 bedroom SV. I'd like to get more specific if I can. Don't we all!

It works the same. The room is not assigned until you arrive and check-in. Requests are just requests.

Your reservation should also be for Kidani or Jambo but you didn't mention that in your post.

We requested to be close to the lobby, 2nd or 3rd floor at Kidani for our upcoming reservation. But of course, you may be interested in something different - but just to give you the idea.

Many people don't request anything.

It works like the other WDW resorts. You don't know your room # until you check-in at the resort and your room is ready. You can make a request but it is not guaranteed.

Yeah oops, forgot, we did the Kidani village. Well it's good to know I still have time to make requests. I was just happy to get our first reservation. That's as far as I've gotten.

Over the years I've gotten to request less and less and this last trip I didn't request a darned thing and got the most AWESOME view room. You often just never know what everything is like so I don't mind fate playing a part sometimes. But I do like being off of the ground floor so I might just put that in there.
