Assume our home resort is SSR.

Assume that we want to stay at BCV in October, 2010.

Can we book a reservation at SSR at the beginning of the 11 month window, then try to get a BCV reservation at the beginning of the 7 month window (at which point we'd cancel the SSR reservation)? In other words, is it legal/kosher/OK to book a "contingent" SSR reservation and cancel it if we get our BCV one?

We really want to check out the BCV but don't want to be squeezed out of SSR (which I recognize isn't likely, but I like to be cautious).

Thanks for any insights on this...

Yes it is legal, kosher, and whatever. In fact, it is the smart thing to do, especially it you are buying plane tickets. It is always good to have a backup plan in place.

In order to switch, you will need to cancel SSR to free up your points before you book BCV. The MS Advisers don't/can't hold the BCV inventory while they make the switch. There is a possibility that you might lose the BCV inventory before the Adviser can finalize the transaction. It doesn't happen often but it has happened to us.
