:wave2: First post - and can I say what an excellent site this is!

I am planning to take the family to disney next yearand have been looking at going in November 2006. This is really down to cost but does anyone have any experience of vsisiting in early November?

Also Virgin or First Choice? I can only get Virgin prices at the moment and looking at £2500 ish with car etc, staying at fairfield inn in Lake Buena Vista. Accoring to THIS years prices I could go to the same place with First Choice for £350 less.... Any problems until wating until Nov for First choice prices? Are Virgin prices likely to go up?

A lot of questions but any answers appreciated! :)

Thanks...

Welcome to the DIS

It is always best to post each question in different threads, just so more people can see the title and help :) Might be worth posting your Virgin/First Choice one seperately.

I can help with the November question though as we are going next Oct/Nov :teeth: It is a great time of year to go our third time during this timeframe. I think it is a little quieter than October and you get to take advantage of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival at the beginning or Nov or see the Christmas Decorations going up at the end of Nov. The weather is still good and fine for spending time in the pool and the water parks.

November is a great time to go. its hot but not unbearable and the crowds arent too bad. If you go at the end you can see all the Xmas decs which are wonderful, the shops all have big sales then so its even cheaper and its generally great!
I would def say Virgin and not First Choice! You get more for your money with Virgin, I flew with First Choice to Mexico and it was ok but the seats were quite small and there wasnt much entertainment.

:) Hi oidsman, welcome to the Disboards, we went to WDW in November 2001, and we found it to be a great time to go. We went in early November and there were no crowds and the Food & Wine Festival was on at Epcot (well worth going to). As you get towards Thanksgiving (Nov 23rd 2006), it will get very busy, and as you get into early December the crowds are quieter again.

We have flown Virgin about 4 times and love it, though if money is an issue we have flown MyTravel and they have been good too (but not as good as Virgin).

Hope that helps

This is our sixth trip to WDW - always in November so I'd say November is a GREAT time to go! Not too hot or humid and the crowd levels are low (except Thanksgiving week!). It sometimes gets a bit chilly in the evenings but nothing a light fleece can't handle! :flower:

we went in november last year and the weather was great.
welcome to the disboards :wave2:

NOOO! November is a terrible time to go!
(Actually its a superb time to go, but I don't want any more people finding out and making it busier! <grin>)

the only time its busy is Thanksgiving week, ( Thursday 23rd November for next year AFAIR) when it gets VERY busy, and you will pay a higher price for everything, but the week before and after are very quiet. As has been said, the day after thanksgiving is when the parks are decorated witrh the Christmas lights and the Osborne family lights are on.

Why not try not going with a package and doing all the parts individually? you could get a great price for a villa at that time and great car hire prices.

Welcome to the dis happy posting!

Definately go Virgin you won't be dissapointed. We have been with them several times, their prices are always competative and you can't beat the service. (you do get what you pay for the little extra touches you get make it worthwhile) We actually stayed at the Fairfield this summer and had a great holiday it was a lovely place and the breakfasts were excellent (fresh made hot waffles mmmm...)

I have thought about this (stayed in a villa for business in January) but the flight prices seem so high on their own (although cant get prices yet as to far ahead) that it doesn't seem worth it... the prices I have been quoted, for the pachage) have been £669 per adult (339 per child) excluding car. assuming the flights are going to be at least £400 on Virgin then that leaves about £500 for a villa for 2 weeks. Is that realistic?

Thanks for your reply btw!

I asked the same question about Virgin vs First Choice...

Hope that helps.

I wanted to go Virgin for following reasons:-

fly into main airport
kids get free stuff
seat back seats
free drinks etc

but if FC works out cheaper (although you seem to have to pay £50 just to get seats together on FC (!?) ) then FC is a more budget friendly option.... £3 - 400 could be spent on attraction tickets etc.... and the FC planes seem better (more legroom, better seat back TV's etc...)

Hmmmmm... decisions, decisions!!

Thanks for the reply!

If you look at prices this november, Virgin are coming out at £300 per person flight only.

I have just tried the virgin website and the price for an adult going on the 5th nov is £577 and kids £433...

total price with taxes of £2499 !!

that is saturday to saturday... if i did weds to weds only £1105 all -in much better! only issue is if these prices are last minute... i.e do I wait until this time next year tobook flights and hope price is low.. aHmmmmmmmmm...interesting!

Maybe I should go this year ....!!!

Strange, Just put in LHGW-MCO 5th nov returning 19th November in the special fares and it not giving me flights at all, but it is giving me 9th nov returning 23rd Nov for £179 adult plus taxes and £134 child plus taxes
Trying the normal fare calculator it gives me £278 per adult plus taxes and £208 per child plus taxes going out on the 5th and returning on the 22nd Nov

The seat availability tool is showing on 5th
VS15 J4 D3 Z1 W3 S0 K0 Y7 B7 L7 M5 Q0 X0 N0 (some seats in econ, not many but PE Full)
VS27 J5 D1 Z0 W1 S0 K0 Y2 B2 L1 M1 Q1 X0 N0 (VERY FULL!)
VS49 J4 D4 Z4 W7 S7 K3 Y2 B2 L1 M1 Q1 X1 N1 (VERY FULL)

and on the return for the 19th
VS28 J7 D5 Z2 W4 S1 K0 Y5 B5 L4 M1 Q1 X0 N0 (just some room in UC, upgrades to be done looking at that)
VS16 J4 D1 Z1 W1 S0 K0 Y3 B3 L1 M0 Q0 X0 N0 (Full)

so on those dates, you are only being given the high prices for seats due to almost being at full capacity.

Now, just to give you an example,
26th Nov this year
Vs15 J7 D7 Z5 W7 S7 K7 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X7 N7 (plenty of seats!)
VS27 J7 D6 Z4 W7 S7 K4 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X0 N0 (plenty of seats at a slightly higer price level)

So that would point to lots of brits out the first two weeks of Nov and not many last week

Just echoing the welcome and saying that November is a great time to go.

Although the days just before Thankgiving are busy the start of that week last year was really quiet! We were quite spoilt by the lack of queues.

Thanks for that info... have to admit didn't actually look at the seats left.. that would explain the high prices... definately cheaper to fly mid-week , just means I would need a villa starting mid-week etc which I know can cause problems... I will have to wait and see when virgin prices are released fro november next year...
