Hi Everyone,

I'm getting married in July next year and OH and I had agreed to leave off having a honeymoon until the year after so that we could get the wedding paid for first.

What he doesn't know, is that I have saved up enough to pay for a honeymoon as well (and my mum & dad have kindly added a little to this!!) and I'm planning to book our dream Disney holiday as a surprise for him and present him with the tickets at the wedding (very excited even thinking about it!)

We've talked about a Disney holiday before but mostly as a thing somewhere in the distance. He never went as a kid, so it's a massive thing for him now (at age 32!!). I went when I was 11 and can't wait to go back to see what's new.

I'm really looking forward to using these forums as a place to get great information and be excited about my trip (since as I am going to struggle to keep it a secret from OH for the next 15 months!).

What a wonderful surprise!!!

Do you have any idea where you would stay?? (Can I put in a plug for the Polynesian?? It's EXPENSIVE, but on the monorail, incredibly lush and romantic and wonderfully relaxing.)

Are you thinking of the dining plan or not?

Thanks for the welcome guys :)

I've been looking at the Dolphin hotel but I'm just trying to get to grips with how it's different from a 'proper' Disney hotel - a few people have mentioned the monorail, but I'm not sure how far away from that the Dolphin is, and whether that would bother us.

If we book a Disney hotel we'd get the dining plan for free as most UK operators offer that as a deal at the moment, but I don't think that includes the Dolphin!

I'll definitely take a peek at the Polynesian now you've recommended it - always good to have another's person's view!

I've never stayed at the Dolphin. But the non-Disney explanation is that, while it's on (or very near) Disney property, it isn't owned by Disney. So you wouldn't get Disney's Magical Express, and you can't get the meal plan.

So, some recommendations:

If you want to stay in the Epcot Area, take a look at the Yacht Club, the Beach Club, or the Boardwalk. The Yacht and Beach Club share Stormalong Bay, an amazing 3 acre (that's HUGE) pool. You can only use Stormalong Bay if you stay at one of those 2 resorts. All 3 are Deluxe resorts, and all 3 are an easy walk to Epcot. From what I've read, Yacht Club is a tiny bit less kid-orientated than Beach Club, so perhaps it's a better choice for a honeymoon.

On the monorail (so closer to Magic Kingdom), take a look at all 3: the Contemporary, the Poly, and the Grand Floridian. (I've listed them from least to most expensive, though all 3 are Deluxe.) You can walk to the MK from the Contemporary if you don't feel like braving the monorail lines at the end of a long night. But we LOVE the Polynesian!!! (And from the Poly, it's also an easy walk to the TTC-- that means the Epcot monorail. So it's amazingly convenient.) The Assistant Principal at my school (whose opinion I value highly) also raves about the Wilderness Lodge. It's not on the monorail, but it's very close to the Magic Kingdom-- I think you access it via boat.

If Deluxe is out of your price range, three others that seem romantic to me are Carribean Beach, and the two Port Orleans resorts. I have family and close friends who have stayed at Carribean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside, and all have gotten wonderful reviews. All 3 are "moderate" resorts.

All these resorts are Disney owned, so all would include the dining plan.

Take a look at the pictures and reviews at www.allears.net

Happy hunting!

Thanks for all your help Alice!

I see there are two Port Orleans resorts, are they in the same place? Is either thought to be better than the other?

Sorry about all the questions!

I hope you enjoy your Disney Honeymoon! My DH and I honeymooned there in 2004, and it was simply wonderful. We had a great time together, and it was a great way to kick off our marriage!
Good luck planning!!

Thanks again Alice! All the pictures make me want to stay everywhere!!

:wave2: :welcome: :disrocks: That's so great! He will be so excited! Don't spill the beans!!! :rotfl:

It's really hard!! I've just met someone on here who will be going on her Disneymoon at exactly the same date and nearly turned to OH to tell him!! I'm so glad I have here to be excited though - I'd burst otherwise!! :rotfl:
