So, I stumbled upon these boards during my search for information to narrow down ideas for our Honeymoon. I spent so many hours just perusing and reading all over the boards. I am still overwhelmed. :surfweb:

We are going to plan with AAA (since I am a member) for the discounts. But after talking to the travel agent, I am no closer to narrowing down what I am looking to do on our Honeymoon.

It is his first trip to WDW, and I am returning for the first time since 1st grade. (I am 34 now.) :cheer2:

So, where do we start? :confused3

We went to WDW for our honeymoon in September 2006, so good choice! ;)

I highly recommend getting the Passporter book (look on Amazon). It's full of good information (much like the DIS boards) and you can carry it with you. It's also a great memento/souvenir because there are pages for you to fill in info and thoughts of each day.

I think the first thing to figure out is where to stay and how long to stay. Between the boards here and the Passporter, you should be able to narrow that down pretty quickly. Things to consider are budget and ambience.

From there, sort out which parks you want to go to on which days (figure a day for each if you are going for 5 days or more). It will still be plenty warm for the two waterparks as well. WDW should publish the park hours including extra magic hours for September in the next month or so.

The dining plan is something to consider as well. If you buy a package (Disney resort + base park tickets + park hopper tickets), you can also add on the Disney Dining Plan (DDP), which has historically been offered free of charge in September.

Peruse the main sections of DIS and have fun!

:welcome: and congratulations.

When are you going? Have you checked out the weddings and honeymoon boards yet? You may find some good ideas there.

Check out the resorts boards for some great pictures of all the hotels. I'm sure one of the hotels will just catch your eye. Don't read into the reviews so much...some people tend to dwell on the negatives of their trip.

As to what you want to do on your honeymoon, there's the parks obviously. But there are also carriage rides, couples massages (I think) and Pleasure Island with a variety of nightclubs. You could book some wonderful sit-down meals.

Just keep asking questions and we'll all try to help.

We are getting married on September 13, 2008. Right now the plan is to fly down on Sunday, 9/14 and stay through the week, leave on the following Monday.

I checked out the Wedding and Honeymoon board. I think I am so overwhelmed and wanting to plan to go everywhere (which I know is not possible).

I have to call it a night. I just had a minor freak-out over my bulldog trying to cuddle with me (while I am reading the DISboards). :guilty: SO I need to go snuggle with him and make it up to him.

step one: breathe

step two: you have plenty of time, as you have picked one of those times that WDW is less busy than avg.

There are a few different ways to plan a good trip... one park a day, spend the whole day in that park, see stuff till you drop. Two park a day, a morning option and an evening option. There are ways to decide which parks are best on which days... you can google "touring plans" for a site that has a lot of good information, there is tour guide mike who is a sponsor here on the boards. There is the podcasts, of which there are many, some more entertaining than others, some more informative than others.

Ya could wing it... which is kinda a bad idea since WDW is twice the size of manhattan with a lot more things to do.

Also a word of advice about ADR (Advance Dining Reservations)... Disney sometimes offers Free DDP (Disney Dinning Plan) in the Sept time frame, which will make getting reservations tough quick.

Above all else, ask questions... someone here knows the answer, you will get the answer in 9 different ways, you will get comments on the answers... you will still have way more information then you ever thought you could ever have about a vacation destination, plan well... but don't over plan. A spread sheet with reservation numbers is good, a spreadsheet with predicted times to stop for water is getting a bit OCD. Be flexible.

oh, and know going into it you will not be able to see and do everything. Get a decent guide book or two (unofficial guide, the complete WDW come to mind) and make a list of must do, and would like to do. Or even better, hit the library for guide books, or pull a bunch off the shelves at Borders get a coffee and read in the store.
