newbie needs some advice

HI!

I booked our first vacay to Universal in March. We are going Columbus Day weeked. (also my bday) We are staying at the PBR. I have many questions. First off....Can I make dinner res. w/ the consierge or should I do it ahead of time? Also, I just applied for a Lowes card...should I call reservations and give them my number? What will I be entitled to?

As far as ressies for dinner, it depends on where you want to eat. For some, I would make ressies early (Tchoup Chop, for example).

It can't hurt to call and give them your loews #. As far as benefits, it depends on whether or not you used a discount code for your room rate. If you are paying rack or AAA, you are entitled to your free welcome gift and a room upgrade WHEN available. Ifl you got APH, FAN, or ENT rate, you are not suposed to get the benefits of loewsblue membership. BUT, some have reported that they still do. I guess it depends on the knowledge/kindness of the person checking you in.

Thanks for the info. I simply booked the vacay on the Universal site. I doubt there were any discounts invovled!

raz5- Welcome to the Dis. You might want to read some of the discount threads and you could save enough to buy yourself your own welcome gift. Loews 1st is good if there is a possible/available upgrade, getting a late check out or using their gym. You can always cancel your current ressie and make another with one of the available discount rates and save a ton.

I was unaware of all the discounts at the time I booked the trip. I hope I didn't do too badly. We are going Columbus day weekend(which I hear is becoming popular) The package included tickets to Sea World, the stay and play pass, shuttle to and from airport and assorted other stuff.
