I have never stayed at any of the DVC properties & need some advice from all of the experts here.

Currently, my family is booked Sat, 9/29 - Sat, 10/6 at Boardwalk Inn (not in the villas). We own a timeshare with Hilton & can trade through RCI into DVC. I have been keeping an eye out for something to open up with our dates without any luck. However, they are showing a studio available at both Saratoga Springs & OKW. The check in date for both is Sun, 9/30. So, if I went with one of these, we would stay at Boardwalk on 9/29 then move to the DVC property on 9/30 & check out on 10/7. Doing this would save us a lot of money & I would get an extra day at Disney. :woohoo:

We are a family of 3: me, DH & our 4 year old son. These are my concerns:

1. The bed configurations/sizes in the studios

2. The distance to/from the parks. We would have our car. While we plan to do some driving, I would also want to utilize the Disney buses.

I'm really torn on whether I should book one of these studios or just fork over the extra money to stay at Boardwalk.

So, tell me, what would you do? Or which studio would you choose?

Thank you!

You may already know this, but the SSR studio will have one queen bed and a sleeper sofa that you will need to pull out each night. The OKW studios will have two queen beds and no sofa in the room. Not sure if that would make a difference in your decision or not.

To me, the SSR studios are more open and bright. OKW villas are surrounded by a lot of vegetation and sometimes the studios can be a little dark to me, jmho. Overall I prefer the OKW resort to SSR, and we own at both and have stayed in both many times.

Good luck with your decision.

I am a member of RCI and I have not had any luck getting into the properties, for a decent price. Great news that you did!!
(There's still hope for me.) We have traded into Wyndham Bonnet Creek this year instead of staying onsite. Also good to see a fellow Louisiana dis on the site!

It looks like we're going to go ahead & book the OKW studio. It wasn't one of my top DVC picks. But, considering that we'll be there for the ToT race & the start of F&W festival, I think we are lucky to be trading into anything at all. I have heard really nice things about the Wyndham Bonnet Creek property.

I always like seeing Louisiana peeps here! I saw that you're in Lake Charles - I'm in Lafayette! It's a small world after all! :goodvibes

OKW has the largest studio of all. Very roomy with a large bathroom. It's not a separate sink and tub/toilet room like the other studios. It's all in one large room. If I had to stay in a studio, OKW would be my choice because of two real beds.

Thank you so much for this information! It is definitely helping me to feel better since I did end up booking OKW this evening. :goodvibes

Thank you for the information. We did end up picking the studio at OKW. I think the 2 beds really made the decision for us.

I bet you will be pleasantly surprised with OKW. It doesn't have the glamor of staying next to a theme park like BWV or BLT, but the rooms are spacious, the property is quiet, the pool and hospitality house are is beautiful, and most views are georgous. Even the "poor" views are still nice (i.e. no parking lot views)

If it saves you a ton of cash as you stated, I bet you made the right move! I own at BLT, but would stay at OKW again in a heartbeat.

Glad you decided on a resort! Have fun!!!! Hey- I heard there is alot of flooding in Lafayette right now and schools are closing- I hope that you are safe!

This really makes me feel a lot better! Especially since you own at BLT (my dream DVC property) and you would stay at OKW. I think I'm starting to feel my excitement build a little more!

Thanks! Yeah, the storms that came through dropped some ridiculous amounts of rain. :sad2: I think the majority of the flooding is on the northside of Lafayette & I heard Carencro has a lot of flooding. Luckily, we are on the southside, so we don't have any flooding right around us. But, thank you for asking! :goodvibes
