Newbie needs help with ressies(LONG)

We just sent our closing documents back to the Timeshare Closing Company. I expect that we will be in the system sometime within the next few weeks (hopefully sooner rather than later).

Our contract was for BWV, 150 points, October UY with all of 2003 points and 42 banked from 2005. So, if I understand correctly, we have to use the 2003 points and the 2005 banked points before September 30, 2005 (total 192 points). We will then bank our 2004 points. Please let me know if I am correct about this.

Our plan is to go WDW in late June/early July and HHI in August. We would like to have a studio at the BW (standard view would be our preference, but would take preferred) for six nights and a one-bedroom or studio in HHI for five nights. We know we can do any number of variations on this based on what is available.

Here comes my confusion... since we have to wait for the 7-month window for HHI, but can make our BW ressies as soon as we are in the system, I won't be sure if I can get HHI ressies when we make our BW ressies. If we can't get them, we would probably opt for a one-bedroom at BWV. So, I guess my question boils down to should I make two ressies at BWV...one for studio and one for one-bedroom and then cancel one based on what is available at HHI? Or is there some better way to do this?

Sorry for being so long-winded, I just want to make sure we get the most of these points!!!

I'm confused as to the 42 points banked from 2005? You have a Oct UY. You say all of your 2003 points were banked. Therefore on Oct 1, 2004 you will have 300 points for use in the 2004 UY. This is the 150 banked from 03 and your 04 allotment. If the 2005 was a type-O and you meant 42 points banked from 02. Then these will expire on Sept. 30 2004.

I agree that you seem to have a typo. It's impossible to have any points banked yet for 2005 (or even 2004). There are probably 42 banked from 2002 (that must be used by this Thursday) and 150 banked from 2003 (that must be used by September 30, 2005).

You will get another 150 , to be used or banked, for your 2004 Use Year and the 2005 points may be borrowed, if needed, for a trip between Oct 1, 2004 and Sep 30, 2005.

I'm guessing the 42 points from 2005 have been BORROWED into the 2004 use year, for you to have 192 points that have to be used by Sept 30, 2005. If they have actually been banked, they were banked fro the 2002 use year and will expire on Sep 30, 2004 as indicated by the above poster. Personally, since you'll have all the extra points available to use, due to you wanting to bank the 2004 points, I'd make all the BWV ressies as soon as you can. Also, make sure they use the borrowed 2005 points first, as you want to use those up, and the banked points as well. When your 7 month window for HH opens up, you can check what's available, but with you wanting a studio or one bedroom, you're most likely looking at the wait list. There are VERY FEW studios and one bedrooms at HH, making them VERY popular at the 11 month window for HH owners. You'll also have to remember your banking windows when waiting on the wait list and having two BWV reservations, which will probably be using some of those 2004 points. You're 100% banking window ends on March 31st, which means by that time if your HH waitlist hasn't come through, you'll have to cancel your other BWV ressie and bank those 2004 points. What I would do is make your 1 bedroom reservation first when you call MS. I'd use as many of the 2005 borrowed points and 2003 banked points as I could with that reservation. Then I'd make the studio reservation. It seems like if your HH ressie does come through, you'd want the studio. This way, you could cancel the 1 bedroom ressie and use those points (2005 borrowed and 2003 banked) for that ressie and then re-allocate the remainder points to the studio ressie. If for some reason the waitlist hasn't come through, you don't need to re-allocate points for your BWV 1 bedroom and just have to cancel your studio ressie and bank your points. Just remember that March 31, 2005 is the magical date in which you can't stay on the waitlist anymore if you intend to bank 100% of all of your points, and lock in your BWV 1 bedroom.

Just to clarify - Were your 2003 points banked? If not, they expire September 30? The 42 points form 1005 could not have been banked or borrowed yet, because it is still 2003 UY.

I'm worried that you may not understand UY, because you did not say that 2003 was banked. You do understand that your UY goes from Oct. 1 to Sept 30, right? So right now, your 2003 points are current and anything from 2002 or 2004 would be banked or borrowed.

Sorry if I misunderstood and you have it all under control, but I'd HATE to see you lose points!

Sorry for any confusion...according to our contract, we have 150 points banked from 2003, 150 points which will become available on October 1, 2004 and 42 borrowed points from 2005. 108 points will then be available October 1, 2005. I wasn't aware you could borrow points before the use year begins, but that is what the contract states. So, on October 1, we will have a total of 342 points. We want to bank all of 2004 for future use and use the 192 (150 banked from 2003 and 42 borrowed from 2005) before September 30, 2005. I know we have to bank our 2004 by March 31, 2005.

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to use the points with hopes of both a trip to BWV and HHI.

The 42 points borrowed from 2005 is still confusing. The only way that could have happened is if they were borrowed to make reservation during the 2004 Use Year (10/1/04- 9/30/05) and that reservation was later cancelled. Points cannot be borrowed except when making a reservation and once borrowed, points can't be returned to their original Use Year.

It sounds like you understand the deadlines for using these points. Just remember that you will only get 108 points on October 1, 2005
