Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has good tips on finding cheap flights. We are leaving from Montreal , and the prices are quite high!

I would appreciate any info...I am desperate!

Also wanted to say that this forum is awesome!!! I learned so much!
:goodvibes :) :goodvibes

Is it possible for you to drive to the nearest US city (not sure where that is from Montreal as I live in ON) because you will save TONS of $$$. The cheapest flight we could find was $1800 CND (for 4 of us ) to Orlando flying out of Detroit worked out to $735.00 Canadian for us all. Try southwest.com and see for yourself. It's the taxes here that kill us, initially the flight does not sound too bad but we are saving over $200 a person in TAX. Good luck.

We though about it, but we would like to come back closer to home.

I guess there is a price for lazyness!!! :rolleyes1

But we might use that suggestion anyway.

Thanks!!!

Hi! :flower: i don't think you are lazy - time is money on a vacation :)
We are flying with Canjet out of Ottawa direct - it cost us about $700 for 2 but the prices went up since the Jetsgo fiasco. Good luck :teeth:

Try going to some of the US Airline sites directly like Delta etc. they might have flights out of Montreal. Anywhere in Canada is going to be effected by the GST, PST, NAV Can and Secuirty Charge and most airlines charge a Fuel Surcharge.

All the goverment charges add about $80 each ticket, no wonder Canadaian Airline s struggle.

Our family used Transmeridian Airlines out of Syracuse, New York this year. It's a charter company operated by Delta Airlines. It was well worth the drive (much shorter than Detroit!) and the service and price was unbeatable. We had a 2 1/2 hour direct flight each way, and flew into Sanford airport in the north part of Orlando. It's much smaller than Orlando International but has all the car rental places and is much easier to get in and out of. Will be doing this again for our next trip. It ended up costing us $200 US per person (this included taxes). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask away.

We fly out of Burlington, VT. It is about an hour drive from Mtl. If you stay in Burlington the night before some hotels allow you to park for free. We are paying $548.00 US for two of us; not sure that we can go much cheaper than that for March break. Southwest has some great fares but the drive is much longer to Albany. If you find anything really cheap leaving out of Montreal, let us know!! The amount of savings is really dependent on when you are going. Right now you can get fares of 49.00(US) one way out of Albany. Cannot find them that cheap anywhere around here.

Keep us posted on what you found!

I was just going to post about this and saw your post! We're going to be flying out of SYR in Jan.06. How's the SYR airport? Did you stay over the night before? If so, any good hotels? Does TMA have sales at all like Southwest? Thanks, Jen :)

We always fly from Syracuse, we usually stay at the Quality Inn at exit #25 off the I81. THey keep our vehicle for 2 weeks as we are staying the night before we fly out with them and they offer free airport shuttle. I think it cost us $63.00 US for the night and parking.

We will by flying TMA in March 06 at $99.00 each way tax incl.

Hi Jen, we are flying Transmeridian www.iflytma.com I already booked flights for next March as they are talking about high gas costs in US could increase airlines prices so I wanted to book while rates were great.

Also Jen the SYR airport is so easy and small, just like Ottawas. Never any problems. We always arrive 2 hours before flight.

Thanks!! I've looked at iflytma but the cheapest i can find is 587.70 taxes in for the 3 of us. Just wondering if you hit a great sale or something? Regardless it's still WAY cheaper than flying from Canada! thanks, jen

Sorry just realized your previous post said 99 each way not round trip! I think i better head to bed!!

That TM place is really a good deal!!! Can't believe it is that cheap! :earseek:

I have to talk to my boyfriend about it though; since we are coming back on a monday, we both work the next day, so driving a couple of hours does not sound very good, even if I have family in Syracuse! :moped:
