Hello all...just finished with our purchase in the BCV....we have a reservation for September...arriving on the 8th....we usually fly in and get to the airport around 10:30...so we are usually at the resort around noon.....do they usually have your room ready for you? I know at the resorts check in time is usually 3.....and if the room is ready will they let you have it early? Any other tid-bits you can offer about getting rooms close to the food and shops would be appreciated.

Welcome to the DVC board!
Getting a room early is really a hit or miss situation. Check in time for DVC members is 4pm and more often than not we have had to wait until that time. However, the few times we have checked in on a Sunday, we have had good luck in a room being readily available. Occupancy in DVC resorts on weekends is usually low due to the high point values needed to reserve the rooms, thus you have a better chance of a room being available.
Room requests are not guaranteed, however, it is supposed to be based on the order of your reservation. Meaning, the earlier you book the room and make your request, the more likely it will be fulfilled.

BCV are located in a separate building from BC. So all the rooms are about the same distance from the shops, restaurants, etc of the BC.

And don't worry about the room being ready. If it isn't, they will hold your luggage for you and you can hit the parks. Then you can call back to see if you room is ready at a later time. Same with the day you depart. If you don't leave until late in the afternoon, you can go ahead and check out and they will store your luggage until you leave. You can still use the pool and change into your traveling clothes afterward.

We haved checked in as early as 6AM and as late as 5PM. We have had a room ready at noon and at 4:15PM.

We have always checked in on a Sunday, have registered early in the morning and have experienced both situations. Sometimes not able to get our room until about 4:00pm, earleir at other times.
The last time we checked into a GV we got our room immediately, about 8:00am. We have ressies for a GV a week from tomorrow, June 8th, and hope for early availabililty.
