Newbie here, how do I buy points and book a DVC resort?

Hi Everyone, I'm just learning about thisnow. I would love to stay at Boardwalk Villas but don'tknow how to go about buying points from owners and booking the reservation. If anyone could walk me through the whole process I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!

You will need to go to the Rent/Trade board, and read the info at the top of the page. Also, read some of the posts to get a feel for how the process works. When you think you have a good idea, then you can respond to a couple of posts, asking for points for wherever you want to stay. Good luck!

Since you're not a DVC owner, points are of no use to you. You cannot make a reservation at a DVC resort using points, unless you own those points.

What you want to do is commonly called 'renting points' ,but what you're really doing is renting a reservation. It's sort of like renting a house at the shore from someone for your vacation.

You'll need to find an owner who has the points needed for your reservation. They make the reservation for you, and you pay them the agreed-upon amount.

Head on over to the Rent-Trade board, and read all of the FAQs and stickies there. Make sure you thoroughly understand the process. Renting points is not at all like booking a resort room through CRO. You are dealing with a private individual, and Disney will not be involved in the transaction in any way.

an additional note -- a request to rent points must be in a certain format -- wording and subject line.
