Hi all,

It just came to my attention from another thread that you can rent someone's DVC points for personal use. I'm so confused as to the whole point system and how it all works...so I'm hoping someone can clue me in. :lmao:

We are planning our next trip for fall 2009, my family of 4 and my parents as well. We're wanting to stay in a condo type unit...where we'll have separate bedrooms to get away from each other. I would GREATLY appreciate any input, advice or recommendations. Thanks so much!! :thumbsup2

here's general info about the villas, such as what bedding options come with a (condo style) 1BR or 2BR (edited to add-for 6 people, you'd be looking at 2BRs):

(OKW and SSR are also condo-style in that you can park directly in front of your bldg, while other DVC resorts are more similar to hotels, with longer hallways.)

here are the point charts to determine how many points your reservation will require:

and here is a good thread for learning about renting:

then come back with more questions (you can also use the search function or browse threads to learn more about DVC in general.)

Chalee has given you some good links to learn the rental process. Depending on when and which resort you may want to stay in the fall may have availability issues if you wait. Seeing that you are looking into this now for 2009 is a good thing.....in the fall DVC can fill up early because of the Food and Wine Fest that goes on at Epcot, this occurs, I believe, the last part of Sept to first week of Nov. So plan and book anywhere from 7 to 11 months prior to your trip if you can.......Good Luck

Thanks for all the info! I'll have to read thru it and see if I have any questions left. :) :cool1:

We rented twice before purchasing DVC and had wonderful experiences both times. I would not hesitate to rent points. Do your homework, have some knowledge on how it works and you will be very pleased with the end results!!! :thumbsup2

Just remember, this is an arrangement between you and a member. Disney is not involved in any way. If anything goes wrong, it's still between you and the member.

The member sets the terms for the arrangement, but you can request a change. It's up to the member to agree or not. Some members request full payment to make the reservation. Some request a deposit to make the reservation and full payment on receipt of the confirmation. It's up to the member. You won't be able to contact Member Services for any reason; only the member can do that. You won't be able to confirm the reservation with MS or the resort. A few days before the start of the reservation, the resort should have it in their files and they might respond to a phone call from you to confirm it. Some people have been told the resort would not confirm it and transferred the non-member to MS where they were told they could not talk about the reservation since the non-member was not the member.

Good luck.
