Newbie from the frozen tundra

Well actually a little south and east of Green Bay......but frozen nonetheless!
I was at WDW in 2002 with my son of 14 at the time and vowed to return someday. It looks like I'm finally making that dream come true!
My fiancee ( first timer) and I are planning a trip in May. We'll be celebrating our honeymoon before the wedding! (Sept) But then, we are also the kind of people that will have dessert before supper!

My now 21 yr old son is a bit skeptical about two 'mature' adults going to Disneyworld, but I assured him that our insurance is up to date and we passed our physicals!

I am amazed at the incredible amount of information is available on this board! Most likely I will be here every day before our departure collecting info and taking notes!

I'm not really sure where we are going to stay yet. When I was there in 2002, my son and I stayed at Caribbean Beach. We loved it!
For this trip, we were looking at All-Star or Pop Central. And then a friend of ours suggested checking out renting points on DVC. It seems like a good idea, but I haven't talked to anyone about it yet.

When in May will you be there? We are planning on 5/3 -5/7. My birthday is during the week we will be there! I'm really excited about it!!

Enjoy your trip in May. My DH and I try to make an annual pilgrimage to the Mouse and we wouldn't pass our physicals! I'm sure you two will enjoy your Pre-honeymoon! Have a wonderful time and soak in some of the romance that can happen along with the magic.

Also, be aware this board is addictive - I have spent all morning on here - avoiding my chores - cleaning the kitchen, laundry, etc. It is fabulous!

Boy, can I relate to that!! I got on here Sat am and it was noon before I realized my coffee was cold!! The rest of the weekend wasn't much better!!
We are really looking forward to this trip.
Have you ever tried 'renting points'? There is a lot of good info out there for DVC members and suggestions for non-members, but I would like to get some feedback from someone who has actually done it.

I have not personally rented points. I believe there is a DVC forum on DIS - I am sure you could get some first hand feedback from others who have rented points. I did hear about the disboards from someone who rented DVC points and stayed at the Boardwalk near Epcot. I met them at our dining table at the Biergarten restaurant in Epcot. You sit at tables of 8 with other guests so our party of 4 sat with 2 other couples. So in chatting she mentioned she rented points. I wish I had more info for you but I found everyone here to be very helpful so I am sure someone else can offer some assistance. Good luck!

I can assure your son that there are many grown people that never tire or grow too old for Disney. For instance, unless I am flat on my back, I will be going to WDW and so will my DH. I had back surgery last March so I am more careful what rides I go on now but not go to Disney? That's not my idea of living

Don't let your son daunt your feelings about WDW. We've logged 42 trips to mouseland since 1977 and still going strong. The children are grown and off on their own and when we can snag either the son and family or daughter and SIL we drag them along too, other than that, me and the Mrs. go it alone. You're never too young or old for Disney. We just returned this January and enjoyed ourselves like it was our first time, always something new to explore. Go, have fun and enjoy being a kid again, we do.

Hello cbeard, We are from Green Bay and actually have some of the Packer Field (frozen tundra) in our back yard .

We had plans to go at the end of March, staying at the Pop Century, until DW broke her ankle and can't put any weight on it for 6 weeks and then 6 weeks of therapy. Gonna be a longer winter than expected. It is our 21st wedding anniversary and this was to be kid free.

We enjoy the drive down to WDW. It takes (about 28hrs.) longer now that we stay over night south of Atlanta.
