Hi everyone. After a few days of lurking, I finally decided to sign up. My first trip to WDW was in 07. That was my hubby's 5th time. We are currently planning WDW in June. This will be our boys (we have 2) 2nd trip & our little princess' 1st trip! Never gone with a baby before, she will be 14 months old. My son will turn 10 on this trip, so if anyone has any ideas on how to celebrate a birthday, a first trip & not leave the middle child out, I am all ears!!!!

You are smart to get in a trip BEFORE your oldest "turns 10"! He will be a 9 yr old on this trip, and save you some serious cash! :lmao:

With your baby being under 3, you can still get a room that sleeps 4 on property (another good thing :thumbsup2). We have 2 little ones and 2 older ones. Lucky for us, our girls are easy going and use to be in their stoller for a bit on Saturdays hanging out at baseball games & such. We did go back to our room 2 days for a short nap (and so the boys could enjoy the pool), but many days they just snoozed in the stroller.

Use rider swap for the rides that the baby is too little to go on... that way the boys can ride things twice!

We had our 2nd son's b-day at Chef Mickey's (he just happens to be lucky and have his b-day fall in spring break, when we take our trips). He asked to have it there again this year as well. We ordered a cake from the cake line, and just got the simple $20 round celebration cake. It was more than enough for us, and we even boxed up half of it & took it back to the resort.

Welcome to the DIS! Enjoy your upcoming trip. :thumbsup2

Cute kid btw!

Thank you! I'm super excited about the trip! And thanks so much! That is our little princess!!! I can not wait to bring her see Mickey for the first time. I cry just thinking about it lol

Wow, I didn't realize that age 10 makes a difference!

Do you rent or bring your own stroller? I see pros and cons on both & I'm just not sure on what I want to do. She'll be 14 months when we go.

My 9 year old has decided he wants to go to DHS for his birthday and has graciously said that for the CB he wants his baby sister to see the Little Einsteins at Play n Dine at Hollywood and Vine. From what I have been reading I have seen to tell my son to let EVERYONE he meets at Disney that it is his birthday.

Hi! I'm also from Louisiana (northshore area). :cool1:We have made quite a few trips with 3 children and on our last trip we had our 14 mo. old granddaughter.

We have been at WDW for my bday, youngest son's bday, and granddaughter's bday. We have had bday celebrations at several different restaurants. Our 2 faves are Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare...but for a 10 y/o boy, I would definitely go with Chef Mickey's.

We were always fortunate enough to spend at least 10 days there. With that many days, we were able to visit each park and water park and then let each child have a day when they were able to choose what we did. Believe it or not, they often picked just hanging at the hotel, swimming, and renting a boat!!! That way everyone got to choose something and no one felt left out.

If you get one of the bday pins, you won't have to let anyone know it's his bday. Trust me, EVERYONE will wish you a happy bday. I thought it was great, because I met so many people with the same bday...and there are special moments at a lot of shows and even just waiting in lines where the CMs will recognize people with bdays, anniversaries, etc.

As for the stroller thing, we have always rented strollers. A small, collapsible stroller was great to have around the hotel and if we went to DTD, but for the parks we always rented. Just so much easier than lugging around a stroller. But that's just the way we feel about it.

Hope your son has a great bday, your little princess enjoys her 1st trip, and your middle child gets lots of "pixie dust" to make him feel special too!!!:thumbsup2

When we went in 2007, we did Chef Mickey's and LOVED it! We are only able to spend 5 days on the parks this time. My 7 yr old is pretty much ok with whatever we decide just as long as he gets to ride Splash Mountain & see the Enchanted Tiki Room.

Hope you all have a great time! I don't blame him...Splash and the Tiki Room are 2 of my faves!!

Our youngest daughter was 15 mo. old for her first trip, and I brought my own stroller. It was very convenient to be able to use it in the airport, and at WDW. I bought a McClaren umbrella stroller specifically for this trip and it ended up being a great investment.
Also good to know, that the WDW strollers are made of hard plastic and do not recline. They may not be best suited for your 14 month old.

Have a great trip and :welcome:

I took my own stroller. The rentals are expensive! I believe it is $15 a day for the single and $31 for a double. Plus, my stroller reclines, and I knew my girls would be more comfy in it than the hard plastic ones at Disney.

Age 10 is when Disney considers kids to be "adults" and the price of tickets & the dining plan go up. Age 3 is when infants become "kids". Until age 3, little ones are free.

Be sure and let them know on the reservation it is your sons b-day & a first trip. They will give your son a button (and daughter) to wear, and that way EVERYONE will know it's his day! You'd be surprised at the number of "happy birthdays" you get from CM's & guests alike! :goodvibes

I think I will bring my own stroller after reading. It will save me on money & I won't have to worry about her being uncomfortable when she's ready for a nap. Thanks so much!!!

We're planning on renting a sit and stand stroller from allstroller.com (I think that's the name, I'll check) for $80 for the 8 days we'll be there.

Welcome. :welcome:. Your son is so sweet to give his cb to his little sister. Hope you have a great trip.

Hey. We're from the Houma area. Planning our next trip, either April or May. Birthday trip for both of mine since they both have May Birthdays.

I like making Tshirts for my kids when we go. Just a though, maybe for you middle one, make him some shirts celebrating his unbirthday, maybe even make him one celebrating his promotion to the next grade. The cast members seem to eat this stuff up. Check out Dissigns for ideas.

Have fun.

Hello from Houma! I am going for Easter this year. My DD is 8 - this is her 16th trip. I have been going basically since I was born so I did the same with my kids. I do recommend you bring an umbrella stroller - you will want it for other areas even if you decide to rent the disney ones. I took my daugher at 9 months and she slept in the stroller - but when she was older like 2 we did go back to the room - she could not calm down enough to sleep in the stroller - but who could - it was Disney! Anyway PM if you have any other questions!
Go Saints! The day is almost here!!
Tracy

Wow, how did I miss this? I'm from Houma too!!! The tshirt idea is a great idea!

Yeah I have decided to bring my own stroller for my DD
