Hi there. Was wondering what shows anyone could recommend that are must see?? And also if there might be any that we should perhaps avoid and not waste our time?? Keep in mind, have a 5 yr old who is short on patience and ability to sit still for long periods of time (lol) and then an 11 yr old...both boys.

Can't wait for new promos to come out....planning our trip for either oct/nov of this yr and can't stand waiting to book! :rotfl2:

Any help would be so appreciated, thanks!! Also, anyone know how to add that countdown and people/ages of family members to bottom of page??

Thanks!

Philharmagic in Magic Kingdom is a must!! It was everyone's favorite in our family. Also, be sure and catch Monster's Inc. Comedy Club (Magic Kingdom) and Turtle Talk with Crush (in Epcot)

Welcome to the Dis!

I'm also from CT so howdy, neighbor!

Definitely AVOID Stitch's Great Escape in the MK. Kids seem to be entertained by it, but you are strapped into a seat with an overhead harness (like they have on rollercoasters) and if your son has difficulty sitting still, he might freak out if he can't move.

Otherwise, definitely take them to Mickey's PhilHarmagic, and Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom. Both are great shows and allow for the kids to get up and participate.

Hi and welcome. I am also from CT, good luck with your planning. We really enjoyed the Festival of the Lion King Show in Animal Kingdom. :)

Hi, Also from CT.

I have a boy and girl 2 years apart (7 & 9) with different interests. Thrill rides and princesses. We went for the first time when they were 5 and 7. We did 3 to 4 hours in the morning (Rope Drop) afternoon break and a little touring at night.

Its hard to say what ti avoid as people have different tastes. Besides this site I would recommend the Passporter book (Well organized with ratings on attractions) and the unofficial guide to WDW. We always use touring plans and never wait in line.

Have fun

Thanks everyone...nice to meet so many fellow CT-ers!! Some of the shows recmd. were ones we were interested in so it's great to know that they are some not to miss! We don't really do the whole stich thing so it wasn't on our list but thanks for the info on it;)

Here's a list of a few we were also wondering on....let me know what you all think:

Epcot: IllumiNations
Hollywood studios: Muppet vision 3D, Fantasmic
Animal Kingdom: It's tough to be a bug, Finding nemo the musical

Any more input on any of those would be great!!! So excited as it's not only our first family vaca but it's our first trip to wdw/plane rides (kids). I've been to wdw but not for over 20 yrs so it almost feels like my first time too! So excited and can't wait to surprise the kiddies with the when!! They know mom is trying to plan something for this yr but that's it! Orig was trying for April but then it's busier and etc so decided on later in the yr! Just want it to be a blast and fun.....with several planned "breaks" as to minimize the meltdowns! :woohoo:

Thanks for the planning bk tip.....gonna see what our library has to offer on that end. Now, if only they'd put out the promos and magic hrs for the end of the yr!!!!:wizard:

One last thing.......anyone have thoughts/opinions on the water parks?? We as a family usually enjoy them and trying to decide whether or not the money is worth it??? Thanks again everyone~:rotfl:

My kids didn't get the Muppets, but I loved it! We are doing Fantasmic for the first time this year, but it is supposedly a must see.

IllumiNations is a good one as well.

We missed Nemo last time, but did the Bug's Life... very fun!

Basically, all the shows at Disney are good. They are 4-D experiences.... they hit ALL of your senses. It just isn't something that can be explained, you have to experience them! The 3D vision, the SMELLS, the bubbles dropping from ceilings... I don't want to give it all away! :rotfl:

If you go in a slow time, try to do everything. We just didn't have a good touring plan last year. This year... I'm all armed & ready to go! My kids thought we were commando last year, just they wait until we hit the parks this March!

Hi,

We went to Blizzard Beach for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. It is better than any water park we have up here (CT). We have not gone to Typhoon Lagoon but I hear it is good. Blizzard Beach has awesome slides and is very clean.
If you get the water park and more option that will also let you go to Disney Quest(the big arcade in Downtown Disney). Since your family likes water parks I would say go. Blizzard Beach is at the top of our list next time.:)

Welcome to the DIS! Everything that has been recommended by others I totally agree. They are a must see at Disney! :)

By the age of 5 my kids could and did pretty much everything in all the parks, including Tower of Terror, which is still our all-time family fave. So, for us, pretty much everything is "must see!" lol! Stitch is usually the only thing I tell people to avoid - it really is a wast of prime Magic Kingdom real estate. Illuminations, Fantasmic, Nemo and It's Tough To Be A Bug we never miss and a trip wouldn't be the same without them. I love Muppets too, but I wouldn't be devastated if we missed it.

As for the water parks, how many days will you be at WDW? We have been to Blizzard Beach and it is really fun. We normally tour the parks for 7 or 8 days and we like to have at least 6 full days in the parks and I would NOT give up a park day for either of the water parks, especially if this is your kids first visit. Also, the Water Parks and More option on the WDW tickets is NOT worth the money unless you are doing BOTH water parks. If you are only doing one water park then it's cheaper to pay out-of-pocket.

Hi,

I would just like to add that if you are only going to one water park one day only and not go to Disney Quest at all then yes, the water park option is not a good deal. If you go to a water park 2 days or a water park one day and Disney Quest another then it is worth it. You can go to the same water park each day.
It is your vacation and if you don't want to spend all your time in one of the 4 theme parks then don't. Do what makes you happy. You can always go again.:)

Thanks to everyone for the input re the shows!!

I'm planning the vaca for either mid of Oct or beg of Nov of this yr.

As of this moment, I am planning for a week down at WDW. Which is why I'm trying to figure out if doing the water park is worth it since my guess is we might need an extra day or two to make it easier so it doesn't feel so crammed. I'd rather it be a little more relaxed (if poss LOL)!!! But that could change depending on what promos come out by then!

Def want to hit all 4 parks but guess we'll need to talk more about the water park and then decide more when I see the promos...I'm hoping they offer that stay x amt of days and get x amt of days free since THEN we could prob add on a few days and fit the water parks in that way! :thumbsup2

We enjoy them I think since we can do a little more together.....hubby doesn't do alot on the ride side...:confused3 SO.......guess we'll see! Still working on which hotel to stay at!:flower3:
