First, I'm an newbie and love all the information I've been getting lurking around the boards.

Starting to plan a trip for 2012 and need someone to tell me I am not crazy. I should start withthe fact that I love Disney, but have not been in almost 10 years. DW is lukewarm on it. We have 7 kids from 15 to 3 and the younger four have never been. The problem is that if (when!) we go DW and kids want to stay on property, probably a villa. They seem to like BLT and the idea of being near MK. I admit I have spoiled them. I figure for 6 nights I will be looking at $10K, at least. We usually go to the beach for 1/3rd of that.

It’s worth it-right!?!?:rolleyes1

WELCOME!!!! :cheer2:

I don't think that's crazy - cause you could start saving now - and in about 3 years (when the youngest is about 6) you could do THE BIG TRIP :thumbsup2
or - you could rent a vacation home with its own pool and do the trip sooner......ahhh that's what so great about WDW - something for everyone....

Have fun dreaming and planning! :goodvibes

:welcome:

Wow, seven kids!:scared1: I don't think you're crazy for planning a trip to Disney. BLT would be awesome! You may find some discounts in 2012 that will help a lot with prices (hopefully). Keep your eye out for that. There's nothing quite like being on property, but if it suits your budget better, renting a home nearby would be a great alternative, as the pp indicated. Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time planning. (maybe you can even win your DW over to Disney!)

Have you checked out the Treehouses? I admit I don't know a ton about this, but I'd imagine staying there might make the trip more affordable. And even though they don't pack the same *WOW!* factor as Bay Lake Towers, there is something really charming and potentially neat for the kids about being out in such a cool location, elevated above the ground in the trees. Just a thought.

Happy dreaming, planning and scheming! I'm in the same boat with a less-than-enthused boyfriend. He liked Disney, but doesn't get it as my go-to *destination* as opposed to other places in the world. So I'm trying to take out my WDW planning fervor on these boards.

Taking 7 kids is wild, not crazy. Just remember with such a large family to include everyone in planning. If the older kids don't have a cell phone think about purchasing go phones or something to let them have some freedom. Plus the new Art of Animation resort is supposed to be ready next summer and according to the floor plans you can get adjoining family suites, which should sleep 5-6 individually so by getting adjoining you can sleep double that. I have done all most of the value resorts, this one will be on the same tier. They aren't super fancy, similar to a normal hotel room, but all the magic of Disney. You get all the perks, extra magic hours, add dining, and all free transportation. I usually look for deals about Feb March and April. I have gotten 35% off value resorts, free dining etc. stipulations are usually book by this date for trips between these dates which I like personally it's usually off season and fewer crowds. Please don't hesitate to ask me questions I'm full of Disney info...

Crazy or not depends on your financial situation.

I think, in your place, I would go for herasy and stay off site. Or, plan B, get two family suites.

But go for whatever is best for your family.

You're not crazy, you are planning the trip of a lifetime. 7 kids is a lot to take to WDW, but the memories will last forever. I really hope you and your family take the plunge!!

Thanks to all. I am certain we are going to try to make it work - already got the bug! :yay: Will look forward to more great advice as we plan. Again, thanks.
