Later this spring, we will be at Typhoon Lagoon for the first time ever. PLease share with me your tips.

It looks like we will be interested in mainly Shark Reef (main reason for the visit) , as well as Castaway Creek, Keelhaul and Mayday Falls, Gangplank Falls, Surf Pool and Ketchakidee Creek. DS is about 47.5 inches so we will stay clear of the larger slides.

One question: DS6 will want to visit Ketchakiddee Creek. How strict is staff about allowing only 48 inches and less to play in this area. The reason I am asking is because I am hoping DD10 can also visit this area. She is WELL over 48 inches though.

Any tips/touring plans, etc. would be really appreciated since this will be our first ever visit to a disney water park.
Thank you

Hi Suzy- If you want some lawn chairs get there at opening.

I know our girls played with our son in the kiddie areas when they were over age so you should be fine.

Keep in mind that the wave pool is awesome but can really throw the little ones around in the shallow area resulting is some scraped knees.

Thanks for the info. We will be staying off-site so won't be able to get in during early EMH but will make sure we will be there for regular opening time.

In regards to lounge chairs, are we allowed to save them with towels, go over and do the shark reef activity and then go back, or will our towels be removed if we are not there? I have been to the Caribbean enough to know about the annoying "chair saving with towels tactics" but was hoping there was someway to avoid playing that game at TL.

Thanks for the info. on the surf pool. DS6 is finally swimming really well but is still VERY skinny (less then 45 pounds) . I will have to watch him closely to make sure he doesn't get tossed around too much.

You can save chairs at TL, it's the only way to go! Just stake out a spot as soon as you arrive, set up camp and then head over to snorkle with the sharks. Also, while you're there, make sure to check out crushin gusher (or something like that!) It's a water coaster, there are 2 and 3 person tubes that you ride the slides on. You actually go uphill on it!

Be very careful with the kids in the surf pool as it can really knock you around! DH pulled something in his leg when we were there and I ended up with a lot of bangs too! And neither of us are "little" people!;) :)

We went to Blizzard Beach for the first time last month and I really enjoyed it much more especially the pool area as the waves there are the gentle bobbing type.:)

I agrre with Blizzard Beach!
It's our favorite. TL is great too, we just like BB better.
The snorkling with the fish ( and sharks ) was fun but you need to take your time when going across.. it's quite short. We were a little disappointed with that. Also , if you have young ones, they might not be able to breathe through the snorkles ( my 6 year old got scared about knee deep in ) . Just keep that in mind so it doesn't dissapoint you when you get there.
Have a great time! and if you get an extra day try B.B too!
Enjoy.

Thanks for the tips so far. Will have to save BB for another trip though, only have allowed one waterpark day for upcoming trip.

Any strategies/advice for the following: Castaway Creek, Keelhaul and Mayday Falls, Gangplank Falls?

We will be a group of 4, can we go together on any of the above mentioned attractions?

My kids LOVE Typhoon lagoon because of the wave pool and crush n gusher. Get there for opening, do the snorkeling first because as the day goes on the water gets stirred so much it is harder to see and then do the slides before the lines get long. My kids first instinct is to go right to the wave pool because it is what you see when you first enter but I get them to the slides because the pool is there all day with no lines.
