Hello, I am new to this board. I have been reviewing it for 2 days and have come to enjoy this place.

My family and I are planning on doing our first trip to WDW on April 2007. I am very new to this and have no idea on what should I do, where should I look, and what should I consider...

I would definitely appreciate all the help you can give me.

Can anyone tell me about traveling to WDW on April? Can anyone post some experiences? Thanks for the help.

Go at least 1 week after easter.

Our first trip to WDW was the week before Easter (4/9 to 4/15). It was very crowded. I think on a crowd scale it was a 10, which means way too crowded. Don't get me wrong, we totally enjoyed ourselves. We went for our DD 2nd birthday. We live in Ok and all the schools here get out for Spring Break around the 20th of March. I didn't realize that all the schools on the eastern coast get out the same week that we went. We still got to do just about everything that we wanted, it's just that the MK was extremly crowded esp. for the evening parade and fireworks. One night I waited on the curb on Main Street for 2 1/2 hours to make sure that we got a good seat for the Spectromagic parade so my DD could see it. It was totally worth the wait. She really enjoyed it. We are planning on going back to WDW in Sept. 10 thru 16th and the crowd scale then is suppose to be a 4. That sure will be different. Even if you go when it is busy, you will still enjoy it very much.
Welcome to the DIS BOARD!!!!I hope the info helps you a little. :wave2:

That's the best advice. Before & the week of it is quite busy.

2nd: Plan to stay on Disney property for your first trip. DisneyWorld is HUGE and I recomend not adding all the extras of Orlando until you get your bearings there. You can only do so much.

Just stick around DIS and you will learn everything you need to know. You have some time to investigate the different resorts, think about what restaurants you want to try and get a feel for how much there is to see and do.

You're gonna have a wonderful time -- planning and going!

WELCOME ABOARD.... HAVE NEVER BEEN TO DISNEY... BUT GOING IN 39 DAYS!! :yay: WILL LET YOU KNOW ABOUT MY TRIP WHEN I AM BACK! princess:

Hi and welcome to the boards. We went in April once in 2004, it was the end of April, some parks were less crowded then others but all in all it was pretty empty. I was shocked. The temp was great. At that time I didnt know about the boards otherwise my trip would have been a little different. I would have knew a little more.. Again Welcome to the boards and if you have any questions just post you will get a ton of answers and opinions right away! :)

Thanks so much for all the comments and advice.

I am definitely loving this board already. There is definitely so much information to read I am so loving all the planning..

Thanks once again..

:welcome: party: I would go at least one week after easter also. The crowds are less.. :thumbsup2

Loved the 3rd week of September!!!That was the perfect time for us! No lines. We did everything we wanted to do.Couldn't have asked for better weather! It was GREAT!!! :cheer2:

Welcome to the boards... i also have never been to wdw in april :confused3 but i will be working for the college program and then full time..... have fun planning it can be almost as fun as going. work some :wizard: and it could save u some money!!!!

Well, I guess I wasn't paying attention!!!! You said April, huh? Never been there in April.

But my sister goes every year and she LOVES the end of the month. Gets you away from the Spring breakers too. Especially with family.

That was our second choice for the time of year to go to Disney. The end of April/early May.

I guess it depends on how close to the ending of school that would be for the kids too. Some schools get out middle of May.

So much to think about!!!

Welcome to the DIS!

We have been to WDW three times at the end of April, beginning of May. For us it is perfect for two reasons, first it is not overly crowded (still busy though) and the weather is perfect. Hot enough to swim yet not 100 degrees in the parks. Oops, one more reason is that it gives me all winter to look forward to it!

If you can, you should stay on property, we have stayed both off and on, once we stayed on property my DH said, "what were we thinking staying off property". It really makes a difference. We stayed at Downtown Disney once and that wasn't even close enough.

Once you decide when you are going, decide where you want to stay.....from then just read the boards and you will get loads of help and hints.

Have fun planning, but I will warn you now, it is very addicting!

I am editing to say that we are going at the end of next April too!!! :)

HOPE4FUN - WELCOME! :cheer2: Never been in April - but I'm sure you'll find all the info you need to decide here on the DIS!

ALLYSMOM1218 - We were there 9/11-9/18 last year and the crowds were great! Most time we waited in any line was 5-10 minutes (they didn't even uncover the Fast Pass units most of the time - including RnRc and ToT!!). You'll have a great time!

MY02SLUGBUG - have a great trip

I have not heard of the crowd scale but glad to see it will be a 4 in September. We will be there September 27-October 4....still a 4?
