Hi all

Looking for a bit of advice please hoping somebody can help - booking my first trip to DLRP soon and after reading a lot of reviews on Hotels etc. have decided on the Sequoia Lodge for 10th - 13th June - now my question is that on the website it says that SL is closed from 2nd - 6th June and dates may change without prior notice - if this happens would you be put up elsewhere??? I know it may seem like a silly question but I'd rather be sure before I book it - if not I'll maybe look at booking the Newport

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Hi KPM and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Yes you would be provided with alternative accomodation. Given that SL has a pool I'd say you would be upgraded (if necessary) to either Newport Bay Club or Hotel New York.
If it were me I'd book the Sequoia Lodge and if necessary you might get a nice bonus :)

Hey!

I can't imagine that Disney would over-run their maintenance dates at one of the busiest times of the year, they jsut can't afford to!

If I were you I would go ahead with the Sequoia, worst case scenario is they mess up the dates and somehow have to make it up to you!! ;)

Free upgrades anyone?!?

It is disney though, so I'd be 99.999% certain they won't chagne their dates! They are one slick company!

Thank you so much for your response & welcome

I am really looking forward to going as DD is 4 and a real disney fanatic

Is SL a good choice over the Newport & New York - I actually really can't make up my mind what am I like :rotfl:

Thanks

I loved the NPB, its a gorgeous hotel. Not stayed in the other 2 so i cant comment.

I've stayed at the NY and Sequoia before, the Sequoia has a nicer atmosphere than NY, andthe view from a lake view montana room in SL is great as you can see straight across the lake and to the castle and space mountain etc.

I toyed with the Idea of NBC for this time, but having read a few bad reviews on trip advisor (whereas SL has loads of good ones!), and knowing I could get a great view from SL for the same price as basic rooms in NY and NBC I chose SL, plus the pool is great there! And the breakfasts are some of the least crowded.

Can't comment on NBC or HNY, but we stayed in the Sequoia recently and it was stunning! Loved it!

The Newport Bay Club is a beautiful hotel both inside and out, I've read the reports on Trip Advisor and I don't think the people on there stayed at the same hotel as I did.

I know everyone raves about SL and I was willing to give it a 2nd chance last visit, but came away feeling as equally disappointed as I did the first time. It's all down to personal choice but my opinion for what's it worth - it's not a patch on NPBC, in fact I'd go so far as to say I prefer the Cheyenne, but SL's got the location.

Haven't stayed at the New York, it's a maybe for us next time, but I have never read a bad review of it, although I could probably find one on Trip Advisor if I looked. ;)

BTW - Its' not the hotel that's closed, it's the Indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpool bath, sauna, steam bath, solarium and fitness room. :) Last visit we arrived the day after a similar closure and everything was open as normal, I think they stick very closely to their timetables.
