newbie ? about the dining plan

I have read some posts where people say "we had the quick service plan for 2 nights and then the regular dinging plan for 3 nights since we are DVC". Does this mean that DVC owners get to pick what sort of dining plan they want for each night of their trip? Does this apply to anyone who is staying at a DVC resort or just DVC owners? Hope that these questions makes sense--thanks!

Hmmmm....We are DVC members and Im not sure about that either....As long as you are at the same resort, you have the same level of DP the entire time.

Often, DVC members stay a few nights at one resort and then switch to another resort for the rest of the trip...aka a "split stay"...That is the only way I know that you could do 2 different types of DP. (We sometimes have to do that b/c of room availability) ???

DVC owners can segment their reservation so they can get the dining plan only on certain nights or get multiple plan over their trip, even staying at the same resort in the same room. It's fairly new. I want to say since late last year.

Renters can ask the owners to segment the reservation for them at booking. However, unless you have already booked it that way, it may be difficult to go back and change a reservation booked as one block to a segmented reservation.

Under this system, you still have to get the same dining plan for everyone registered in the room during any given segment; but you can change plans or number of persons in the room on each segment if you wish.
