I'm a newbie and just booked our trip to WDW with our 3 year old twins in September (they will be almost 4 at the time). We are coming from Puerto Rico (got crazy cheap airfare on Spirit $26 each round trip - yes, $26, NOT a typo!) - staying at POR and of course doing the free dining (yay - what a bonus!!).

I didn't specify a room location for POR - I've looked at the map and can't figure out what would be best. We will not have a car so will be relying 100% on transportation. We will have strollers with us but only plan on using those when we go to the parks.

What is the best location to request for POR for small children?

TIA!

We have always stayed in one of the mansion rooms and had really good luck with the transportation.....if I remember correctly it was the Magnolia Mansion. We stayed on the ground floor so when we got back from the parks with a sleeping child it was easy just to roll her stroller right into the room. A beautiful resort - in fact will be there in 3 weeks!! Have a great trip!!!!

With small children you will want to be near the food court and main bus stop (south depot).

Request a ground floor room in Alligator Bayou building 14, 15, 18 or 27. They are the closest.

If you would like to stay in the mansion section you could request the Magnolia Terrace Mansion any floor (as the mansions have elevators).

The mansion walk is a little further from the food court than the AB 27 building, so plan accordingly.

If staying in the Mansions I would chose Partrere Place or Oak Manor. We have stayed twice in Partrere twice with little ones and they loved walking over the river every morning to go to breakfast. Also if you look at the map Oak Manor has one of the non-themed pools with a laundry room and bathroom at the pool. On both stays my wife and I did laundry on the day before we left while the kids swam. One of the times they swam, there was no one else at the pool. The other time there was just one other couple there with their two kids. Something to think about if you want to wash clothes before you get home and take a little afternoon break.:thumbsup2

We just returned from a stay at POR last week. We also stressed over which building/area to request (we have 4 yr old twins too!). My advice is to put a request on your reservation for a room near the food court. Our room was in a mansion -- Partrere Place -- and we loved this location. It was maybe a 5 minute walk to a bridge, cross the bridge, and we were at the food court. We rented a surrey bike and rode around the resort, and I could see how some buildings would be quite a hike to the main building area. So I'd just be sure to request a building close to the main building and you should be fine.

As a side note, your kids are going to love the food court and also the playground and pool. POR is a great resort.
