Well we are a week back from the big trip, 33 days touring all over America. Had such an awesome experience and am devastated to be home  Thought I better get on with the TR anyways. It may be staggered as I know it's going to take me a while to finish it but bear with me :thumbsup2

Day One - We left Sydney airport at 9.20pm with Hawaiian Airlines. After 9 hours and 40 minutes we arrived very sleepy at Honolulu Airport for our 3 hour stopover before continuing on to Los Angeles. I must say when we reached Hawaii for our stopover we were very confused and had a lot of trouble trying to find where we needed to go to get our next flight. We spotted a Burger King to feed the kids after they refused to eat food on flight (I cannot understand why :rotfl:) but we continued to the other side of the terminal using the on site bus to get there. Couldn't we be more wrong when we got to the other side of the terminal to find only a starbucks :crazy2: By this time we had about one hour until we boarded for LA so we just grabbed a bagel that was very dry and icky and a cup of coffee we could only bear because we were very tired and settled for that being our first meal of the trip. No pictures are necessary due to the disappointing nature! On we went to LAX, got in at 10.40pm local time, needless to say it took a lot longer before we found a place to rest. We were booked in at the Radisson LAX because it was the closest hotel to the Airport and we had a 9am flight the next morning. It took us FOREVER to find a way to get to our hotel :scared1: we went round and round in circles asking people for help and looking for change for the payphone before we finally found the taxi rank. By that time we could see our hotel in the distance and couldn't see any taxis so we walked all the way there with our bags. I think our sheer excitement at the thought of sleeping in an actual bed was what towed us over the line and got us to the hotel. Room service and bed was in order with only 6 hours until we flew out again. Room service was expensive but the kids actually enjoyed the food so it was well worth the expense!

Another TR. :thumbsup2

What was Hawaiian Airlines like?

Hawaiian were excellent! They were all very nice staff, comfy seats, blankies, great free entertainment of movies, games, tv series for big kids and little kids. Food was so-so but that's airline food for you! Kids even got nuggets and potato gems with oreos on the way home which I thought was pretty good. Their snacks are really nice and their seats are pretty roomy and quite comfy!

Yay! Off to a flying start (bad pun intended :lmao: ) Looking forward to hearing more :)

Good to hear Hawaiian sound Ok- I wondered. Gotta love these long hauls! I know just how you feel when you finally got to that bed! Looking forward to lots more of the report!!

Day 2 - Woke up at the Radisson LAX super early for our 9am flight to New Orleans with Delta. Delta were great to travel with although we really missed the free in flight entertainment that we had with Hawaiian! After what seemed like forever we arrived in New Orleans just after 2.30pm.

When we arrived at Louis Armstrong Airport the place oozed of culture and soul! We got a cab easily from outside the airport and took around a 20 minute ride in an SUV to our hotel, Best Western French Quarter Landmark hotel. This place is a bit of a mouthful but the inside of this place is amazing! Such a beautiful hotel with modernised charm without losing the New Orleans feel.

Our room had two double beds and was very plush with new fittings and fixtures. A tad on the smallish side but nothing you wouldn't expect from most hotels. The pool and courtyard were amazing!

Reading along too, sounds like a tiring start to the journey ( but I guess it goes with the territory).

Jess - I hope you don't mind. I took a look at your Flickr links as I'm pretty sure you want the pictures to show in the post; rather than for the reader to have to click on the link.

There were additional "codes" around the link from Flickr. Are you using the Insert Image function on the Dis? If so, I recommend that you copy and paste the link from Flickr directly....no need to use the Insert Image.

I deleted the additional codes from your post.

And if I've over-stepped the mark, happy for you to tell me to mind my own business!
