i have 3 timeshares i am planning on selling and then I'm hoping to pick up a DVC membership (i only bought 1 timeshare and inherited the other 2) how many points would you recommend for a family of 3 1 parent 2 teens to be able to go a full week and like maybe a 3 day weekend a year i know I'm going to need at least a 1 bed room.

also i know that when you book a vacation through Disney you get your entry to the parks as well I'm assuming this isn't true with DVC and about how much is passes.

It all depends on what season you'd plan to take most of your trips, which resort(s) you'd want to stay at and whether you'd want to have enough points to cover a full week (since Fri and Sat nights are usually quite a bit more points). Check the info on resort points per night to compare the different times of the year and then you'll be able to figure out how many you'll need.

A friend of mine, with a family of four, (2 adults & 2 kids) does very well with only 150 points. She usually books 1 BR's...last year I think she got a total of 10 nights between BCV and VB.

We have 200 pts with a family of six, and we're thinking about adding on.

I would suggest, just get the minimum to start, then see how it works for you. Minimum is 150 pts. Good luck! :wizard:

You won't get entry into the parks unless you purchase a package thru Disney. Room only reservations thru Disney will NOT have access to the parks included. Packages are not available with DVC reservations, but members do get a discount on Annual Passes. Other admission options are available to members and guests right at the resort. Here is a link to ticket prices available to all guests at WDW- regardless which resort and unrelated to DVC ownership.

Feel free to download my DVC-Planner program (see link below). You can do all kinds of scenarios to vary the season, resort, and room type and instantly see how many points are needed. You can even put in a tentative vacation period, and with one click, see how many points it would take for that vacation, for every DVC resort/room combination there is.

This might help you decide how many points is best for you.
