New Zealand in October

We're flying into Rotorua and then home from Auckland.

Just confirming that we arrived yesterday. We landed in Christchurch yesterday and made it in time to pick up our campervan. Christchurch airport is pretty well organised.

Today we got off to a late start, but visited the gondolas and orana wildlife park and we've stopped for the night in Rakaia. It's cold, but manageable. ;)

Thanks particularly to Wanderlust and Tulips for all your help!

It was a nice warm day for us today :-)

You're welcome. Have a wonderful time. :)

I'm after some last minute suggestions. We're currently at Te Anau, the plan was the go to Milford Sound today, but the road is closed. Our back up plan was Doubtful sound, but it's all booked up...

We can't do the glowworm caves as DD is too little, and it's raining and freezing outside...

What else do you suggest we do? We were supposed to be leaving Te Anau for Wanaka tomorrow morning, which unless we cut our losses and leave today, we will still be doing. :confused3

Should we just head to Wanaka now? Or are there other things to do in this weather around here?

Took some advice from Trip Adviser and headed to Wanaka, because it was "lovely and sunny" there... Of course the weather followed us and it hasn't stopped raining the entire time we've been here... At least it's not as cold here.

I can do freezing weather, and I can do wet weather, I don't like doing either of them, but I can handle them. However I can not do freezing wet weather :rotfl:

Did you check out Puzzleworld in Wanaka - I think its mostly indoors except the maze. Hope the weather improves for you tomorrow!

Sorry you're having some bad luck with the weather :sad2: Hope you're still managing to have a good holiday!
