New york rooms?

no, it's just one room with two beds.

Do you have a link?

It must be a suite of some kind.

My friend is just back and booked a standard room. I told her to email for a little pixie dust and she was in a room with a living room so I wondered if they were upgraded :)

Some of the Empire State Club rooms at the HNY have a small, separate lounge area. The bedroom area sleeps two (king bed) and the lounge area has a sofa bed (double), so in all, sleeping 4 people. I didn't realise this and only know because I enquired about this before we booked the DLH and it did seem a good deal. It was a little bit more than the price we are paying for DLH (standard) but not much. However, DLH won for location with it being cold when we go (and the fact I felt it would be more Christmassy).

Good on your friend getting such a great upgrade! Can be I nosey and ask the reason she mentioned pixie dust? Or did she just ask, just in case! :confused3

It was their first ever trip and I think both kids birthdays(def one of them) so I said no harm asking. When we have emailed in past I never ask for 'something' just say how much we are looking forward to trip and what it's for ie my dads retirement etc and we've always got upgraded and my folks room got covered in balloons :)

Aw that is lovely that they did that for your Dad - bless!

It is so hit and miss, I think some of it boils down to the time of year (busier the hotel, less change of an upgrade), and just sometimes luck! I have heard of people saying about child's birthday/adult's special birthday and not even getting an acknowledgement - no matter how small i.e. bottle of water. You just have to go with the flow I think - and I would never outright ask for anything either but I'm sure some people do. It is lovely to know pixie dust does exist for some without asking though :cheer2:.

Your friend must have been tickled pink! :thumbsup2

She didn't really realise as had never been and no expectations so think its only tonight when I've told her she's realised!
I know was lovely for my dad :) he also got a wee card signed by fab 5 saying happy retirement :) and my folks checked us all in and when they said name the cm knew who he was!! :)

Think you are right re time of year/how busy etc all she received back in an email was 'be hopeful!!'

where did she email?
I emailed Disney's customer care, and told them we are staying in HNY in Jan, and its our 10th wedding anniversary :) I'd LOVE some pixie dust too :)

Congratulations on 10th anniversary :) we are 10 years next December :) planning trip to Mexico :)
