Dont want to start this whole food thread up again, but .....
Just got back from the July 3rd western. We hadnt been on a cruise before and had pretty low expectations. Were expecting bad food and drowning in disney, like being trapped inside "it's a small world" for a week. Dont get me wrong, we're DVC members and take the kids to Disneyworld at least once a year, but we were prepared for the worst, expecially since our intimate family vacation for 4 turned into 14 people traveling together.
Anyway, through my work I get to eat at the best restaurants in the world, so I've got a pretty high bar -- my wife says I'm a food snob. So with that in mind, we really enjoyed the food and I put on 5 pounds. Not the kind of place I would seek out in a big city to take clients to, but certainly on par with high-end wedding food. Probably the best you can expect with two seatings for 2500+ people. They missed the mark here and there, but we found something we enjoyed on every menu. Since we were in a cat 3 suite, we ate a Palo 4 times: tea, brunch, and two dinners. The best meal on the ship was the palo brunch. And just to prove I've a stickler when it comes to food, here are three minor things Palo messed up on (in my humble opinion):
when we ordered a second, different bottle of red wine they didnt give us new glasses,
the sauce in the chocolate souffle is supposed to be hot not room temp,
and even though it's included in the brunch price, they should upgrade the Korbel champagne. It doesnt measure up to the quality of the food.
Just goes to show you everyone has a different perspective.
