New York City Half marathon

I'm running it for the first time next weekend. I am wondering if anyone has done it before and was looking for some input on the race organization/course. I have previously done the WDW half and full marathons.

I saw this too late, and the registration was already closed. But looks like a fun race through the streets of NYC. I did a duathlon in Central Park last September and look forward to more there.

I may do a half in May out in Queens.

The full marathon is in november, the half is in march.

My Co worker and I entered the lottery the first day it opened up. We know some one who entered the lottery on the last day and didn't get in. We entered the lottery for heck it not rely thinking we would get in.

No I'm not doing the full because I'm getting married a couple of wks before and our honeymoon to Disney will interfer with training. Also, i don't think I'm ready to do another full for a long time.

Well, I did the NYC Half Marathon on Sunday and really enjoyed it. It was fun to run around Central Park and in Times Square. I would like to do it again next year.

Stitch, I'd like to do this sometime. How many participants are there? Good support on the course?

~11500 people completed the race. I really liked the course. We ran the first 8 miles in Central Park and then exited out on 7th ave and ran towrds Times Square then out towards the West Side Highway (this was the boring part). Lots of support on the course...especially exiting Central Park towards Times Square. Also, there were DJ's and bands playing along the course. Plenty of water and gaterade, too. I want to enter the lottery again next year.

I'm not ready for another full marathon. I did the Disney full marathon last year and the training was just so time consuming - training for a half is so much easier, but I never say never - I'll probably run another full some day.

I saw a bunch of you half-marathon runners on the West Side Highway on my way to church that Sunday...

Maybe next year I'll do it too.. Good job and glad you enjoyed it.. sounds like it covered some nice areas of the city.

My co-worker and I entered the lottery last night. Hopefully, having done it this year gives us an advantage. I can't believe we have to wait until Novemeber to find out if we got in.

i entered the lotto yesterday as well and hoping for the best. i wish they gave some sort of advantage for active nyrr members like the 9+1 program for the marathon, but such is life...

you have until november to submit guaranteed entry times...if you're only 10 seconds off, surely you can train for a fall half and get there in time!
