Am I crazy to go to Disneyland New Years eve (and maybe day?) Also, I've read that they may reach capacity and park hopping is not advised, is this true?

Anyone have personal experience going NYE?

Lots of us do NYE and have a blast...you just need different expectations vs a typical trip.

We park hop in the AM, then gates can close anywhere from 2-6pm depending on conditions/day/weather

Up in the search bar above enter "NYE" and/or "New Years" and you see see a wealth of info and trip reports already posted.

We like to do just the first couple of hours in DL on NYE and then cross over to DCA and spend the rest of the day and night there. It's less crowded overall and there are usually lots of bands plus whatever regular festivities they have going on for the holiday season, so in other words plenty of entertainment to fill up the hours. The also do a low level fireworks show over the water at midnight.

How do you do in dense crowds? Do you expect to ride lots of rides? Are you claustrophobic? If you don't do well in heavy crowds and if claustrophobia is a problem, then NYE at DLR (in fact, the week between Christmas and NYE) probably isn't a great idea for you. If you want/expect to ride lots of rides without waiting in long lines or if you don't do well waiting in long lines (for everything: rides, food, restrooms, etc.), then another time of year would probably work better for your trip. NYE can be really fun at DLR, but you must have realistic expectations and know how well you do or don't do under crowded conditions. Some people love this time of year and make a NYE DLR trip an annual tradition. Other people try it once, hate it or are very frightened by the whole experience, and never do it again. Only you know which group is yours.
