New Years Magic Kingdom firework advice

I was totally planning on avoiding MK on NYE so was going to book the dessert party for the day before when they also show the fireworks and go to Epcot on NYE (rather watch it online but my other half wants to go to a park if we are in disney over New Year)

Anyway when I was looking the dessert party was available to book for the NYE late fireworks - I grabbed it and booked it but still not sure I want to be somewhere that crazy - anyome got any experience of it? I assume with reserved area that it shouldnt be quite as stressful?

However, everywhere just outside of the reserved area(s) will be J A M - P A C K E D !
(And, it will take quite awhile for those areas to loosen up after the show.)
