Thanks to all of you I now have more of an idea of what I want to do Christmas Day...PS willing :D

Now onto New Years Eve, has anyone visited any of the parks before on NYE? Any recommendations, things to avoid...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

We spent the (very long) day in Epcot on NYE 2000/1.

We'd heard stories of the parks being at capacity early on, so we were through the gates by 7:15 a.m. Yes, that's 7:15 in the morning! We stayed until after the midnight edition of Illuminations and it was a fantastic day. We were completely exhausted, but I would happily do the same again if we had the opportunity.

One of the most frustrating things I found was the lack of advance information about park operating hours, etc. I was able to confirm opening times for the parks only the day before NYE. There were two showings of Illuminations, with an earlier (unpublicised) version at about 7 pm, then the NYE version at 11:45 pm.

We liked Epcot because there were mini celebrations in each of the World Showcase pavilions as their home countries reached midnight - we booked a PS in the Rose & Crown to be there for 7 pm when it would be nidnight back home.

There were stations around the park giving out hooters and hats during the evening, and stages set up with music playing throughout the evening.

In a word - brilliant! I hope you have as good a time as we did :teeth:

Hi  ,

Last NYE we went to EPCOT as well. Although it rained we still had a wonderful evening, IMO this is the absolute best place to come to on NYE.

We didn't get there until about 2pm and had no trouble getting in. However, I'm not sure we would have risked it if we weren't staying onsite.

Like Hilary said it was really nice that there were celebrations in each country, we had dinner at The San Angel Inn in Mexico - It was a lovely meal.

It was wonderful.

We were there last december, and we went to MGM on new years eve first, and spent the day there, until about 4 pm, then we went to EPCOT for the evening.
EPCOT was fab, apart for the torrential rain, if i went for christmas again, i would choose EPCOT again for NYE, it has a great party atmosphere, we did'nt have no trouble getting in at that time of day, the only park which was full to capacity was Magic Kingdom, and it came over the tanoid at all the parks for everyone to know.

HELEN :)

Epcot it is! It had never crossed my mind about the time differences in each country and the different celebrations, thanks for the advice.

Now onto the inbetween days :D
