I was thinking of going to Pleasure Island or Citywalk for New Years Eve (after the Seahawks play the Buc's in Tampa) this year. Has any one gone to there parties and is it worth the price you have to pay to get in. Any help would be appreciated.

Never been, but I know each gets over $100 per ticket--last year was closer to $120 IIRC. They try to justify the mark-up by throwing in a few has-been bands, and I think CityWalk includes a buffet, but still seems incredibly overpriced to me--$120 for the same clubs I can see for $10/$20 December 30th or January 1st.

If you're in Tampa anyway, you might look into "Channelside" (think that's the name), the new entertainment complex over there. My friend was there this past New Year's Eve and had a blast.

I've been to PI for New Years twice. I like it, and will probably do it again. On the other side, I've been told by people I believe that the Citywalk festivities are much better. If I wasn't such a diehard PI fan, I think I'd go to Citywalk

Two minor points to add: Citywalk has the buffet the other poster mentioned, while PI provides light snacks; IMHO the PI spread is laughable, so don't go hungry. Second, this last year PI seems to way oversell it compared to the other year I was there, and it was VERY crowded... and this is coming from someone who likes crowds.

I think I'd hold off until the entertainment lists come out, and decide then. Last year, PI had Smashmouth as the headliner and a handful of lesser acts; Citywalk had Styx... PI trumped CW that year, IMHO. The previous year, the reverse was true (David Lee Roth vs. Cheap Trick) but it's all personal taste. Pick which one you like and go for that one.
