Hi! My hubby and I have booked our first trip to Disney for Dec 31 to Jan 5th! we have 4 small girls (ages 6, 2, 2 and 1). what do you recommend as far as what to do on New Years eve?

I can start booking meals (we have dining plan) on June 30th and I have been researching what to do but could use some input from anyone who has been there on New Years eve before. I can't see them all making it until midnight. Any input would help!!

Thanks!!

The only time I was at WDW over New Year's was when I was in high school. That actual night, it was so scary crowded that I couldn't honestly move. I was trying hard to stay with my group, but we kept losing each other in the crowd. With kids that little, you might want to plan something at the hotel or somewhere other than the MK just because the crowds are so rough. I'm sure other people have better answers for you, but my experience was almost 20 years ago, and it still gives me the shivers.

We arrived at WDW on 12/31 in 2005. Our dd was 8 at the time. While this might sound boring to many, we chose to go for a swim, eat dinner at the resort, and go to bed well before midnight! Then, we got up early and hit the parks on New Year's Day before the crowds arrived (everyone else was still sleeping from being up so late the night before! ;) ). We had a great time, with very short lines and practically no waiting for quite a while. I would recommend this, especially if you don't really care about NYE...

thanks!! I don't really care about NYE. Here is another question, when do they dismantle all the Christmas stuff?

The Christmas stuff stays up until somewhere around Jan. 6, so you'll be in really good shape for seeing all of that. It's really pretty!

We went between Christmas and New Years when my boys were 4,2,2. We went to Animal Kingdom that day and had a great time. It was the least busy park that we did all week. We got there at opening, left at 4 pm, took a swim in the pool, ordered pizza for dinner and had a few drinks. It was nice.
