New Year's Eve park planning - Magic Kingdom

Looking for some information on when to arrive at Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve. I want to be at park at midnight but want to know what time need to arrive to not be shut out.

We did it in 96 and the park reached capacity at about 10 AM. Best advice to you.....don't go! You couldn't move, couldn't get on rides except with loooooooong waits, the crowd was rude. By 5 I was ready to tear up my ticket and get out of Dodge. Would NEVER do it again. On the other hand, New Years Day is empty!

We did EPCOT last New Year's Eve and had no problems. It was very crowded, but no problems. We had an ADR for dinner at 7:30, and then walked around (and it was pretty cool - they had alternate paths opened so we walked back to FW in between Norway and Mexico, then under Test Track). Lines were long but manageable. Actually rode Imagination with no wait, which is not unusual).

Spead out a Blanket by the lagoon around 9 and hung out, playing cards and video games. Fireworks were amazing.

I would stay away from MK. Christmas Day (yesterday) it hit capacity shortly after noon and they were turning away everyone who did not have a resort room key. It reopened later - and then the storms came...

You may luck out at late afternoon. But that would be it -- luck.
The sooner the better is the rule of thumb.

Two years ago we were in MK on NYE. (allllllllllll day )
Did not repeat last year!
We went to Epcot late afternoon, figuring if we got in, we got in. If not, Oh Well.
We got in, but just barely. MK was closing off at that time so everyone was heading to Epcot.
They soon shut their entry doors too.

Be prepared. This is the one time if going again for NYE I would consider taking my own food.
