New Years Eve - MK Park

Hi,

A question to those with experience and know where everything is:

Am dining at The Grand Floridian New Years Eve this year. How far is this hotel from the Magic Kingdom Park itself? My question being am I better to stay there after we've eaten (can I see the fireworks from there?) Or is it worth me trying to make my way to the MK park after dinner (this will probably be about 9.30ish I would imagine, am I likely to be granted entrance at that time or will it be full to the rafters? Am staying at a Disney property if that makes a difference!!)
As I have never ever been before (and am trying to be organised!) I have no idea really on where things are in relation to one another.

Any advice or comments would really be appreciated.

The Grand Floridian is a very short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom. I'm guessing 5 minutes or so from loading to gate.

We did the MK on NYE2004, and it was beyond full to the rafters. We spent the entire day there, as we'd been told that all the parks would close to capacity for all guests at some point that day. I can't imagine being able to get into the park that late in the evening. I know there were people already lining up for the midnight fireworks when we went to our dinner reservation at 9pm.

However you end up ringing in the new year, you'll have a magicial time. You just can't beat Disney during this time of year. Have a great trip!

I would walk along the pathway between The GF and the Poly. Pick a spot with a good view of the castle and watch from there.

From all I have read about NYE in DisneyWorld, you need to be in the Magic Kingdom by lunch time if you want to stay until midnight. At 9:30pm, you would be better off staying at the GF, or head to the Poly beach and find a spot there. It, too, is popular for fireworks watching.

If you are staying at an onsite resort, you are only guarenteed admission to A theme park, not necessarily the one you want to go to.
