Just wondering if anyone's ever been at this time.

It's impossible for DH to take time off before Christmas, so I was thinking that NY might be a nice alternative with the bonus of the Christmas events still going on.
Presumably entrance to the park is via ticket on NY's Eve ?

Is there an alcohol policy on NY's Eve, we'll have the children with us obviously, and while I can appreciate people might be a bit tipsy, DH included (I don't drink) - I'm wondering whether it might not be suitable for the kids.
Any input appreciated :goodvibes

Jill, I do know New Year's Eve is mega busy:crowded:
Have you thought about going just after, I think the Christmas decorations are up until about January 8th usually.

If you look in the Trip Reports Index Nick (Maleficent Man) went at New Year, his reports are Nick & Mum under January 2006. :)

Sorry, can't help with the alcohol/drinking bit. I've been racking my brains trying to think who else has been there for NYE... ..you could always PM Nick and ask him - he wouldn't mind. :)

Hi Jill

I was at DLRP on New Years Eve 2 years ago,it was packed, really busy, queues were very long,I remember waiting in line for Phantom Manor for well over an hour but it was well worth the wait.It was just after Christmas I went, the Christmas celebrations were still on,the atmposphere was fantastic.

New Years Eve is great as the park stays open till 1am & the atmosphere is electric. There was a big party underway in the Disneyland Hotel also that just went on & on & on .... it was great looking out over Main Street from the Hotel.

I would say go for it, there were a lot of kids in the park at the time who really enjoyed it but I dont remember whether alcohol was served or not,all in all the crowd was in very good form & I didnt see the slightest bit of trouble in the resort that night.

BTW I love going in Summer as the parks are open till 11 & the weather is usually fantastic & the Christmas/New Year season is just as magical

Have a great trip !! :smooth: :smooth:

We where also NYE in the park a few years ago.
Its very very busy. If you would like to eat in the park make a reservation.
If you stay in a Disney resort and eat there a reservation is also necessary.
Its a great evening and you will enjoy it. Make sure you get your fast passen quiet early.
We arrived at 18.00 in the park and could get no fast passes anymore before midnight.
The serve alkohol in the park. Around twelve you see tables with plastic champagne glasses appear.
Don`t worry. A eggcup full of champagne costs around 10 euro. People won`t get drunk of this champagne.
Another story is when the guesst smuggle alcohol into the park.
I know it happens and Disney cant do mutch about it. We did`n see people roll over the ground but I read story`s where they proudle tell about how mutch they drunk and how they annoyd compleet strangers for more beer.
That are just a few thank god, so don`t worry you will probably see only nice and happy people.

But there is one cool thing about New Years Eve; after the midnight fireworks most people leave the park immediately. But the attractions are open until 1am. And for us it was magical to do PM at 0:15am. :wizard:
And there was almost no waiting time because most people want to leave the park ASAP! :confused3
And like the others already said the park is very packed. Especially Mainstreet from 11pm to 0:15am! It was so full that we couldn’t find a place to lean against! In the two arcades were so many people that you couldn’t walk through!
And you should keep in mind: if you want to have dinner at New Years Eve you have to pay a loooooot. Because all restaurants offer special menus. If I remember correctly the menu at Walt’s was 150€ per adult!

Jeh when the others gaze at the firework all te attractions are empty.
You can take your chance and ride along all the main attractions.

Marcus is right. It`s so crowed thad tou easely lose contact with eatch other. Take care iff you got children with you.

The meals are really verry expensive both Christmas and NYE.
I`v got the list of last year.
Walts,Bleu Lagoon and Auberge Cendrillon : 120 Euro.PP.
The hotels firs round diner around 130 euro. Second round diner 150 euro.
NYE is even more expensive.

The atmopshere is wonderfull.
We dined last Chrismas at the Disney Hotel and really enjoyd it.

Thanks for the replies everyone, New Year's Eve really appeals to me, I assume the fireworks are out of this world and I'm desperate to see Disney Fireworks, but I do hate crowds, I vowed never to return to the park on a weekend after our last trip.
You've given me plenty to think about. :)
