We will be staying at SSR for New Year's Eve. Are any restaurants doing anything special for NYE and if so, which would you recommend? It might be my GF and myself or my GF, myself and one of her daughters (13).

Thanks.

NYE is considered a holiday and when you make a PS at 90 day mark(and I definitley recomend doing this!) they will ask for CC, but you can cancel 48hrs before. We have spend last 2 NYE in WDW. 2002-3 we ate at Tewppanyaki in Epcot and last year we ate at Brown Derby in MGM. We were able to park hop between these 2 parks on NYE, but if you plan to go to MK, I suggest you go early(it has closed to all guest including resrt guests by 10am both years) make a PS for the park at 90 days (if you leave the park for resort dinner, you may not get back in) and plan to stay there until midnite events. MGM, Epcot and MK have fantastic fireworks at the conclusion and MGM had 3 shows of Fantasmic that night along with Fireworks. Epcot has a special Rock and Roll NYE party the last 2 years at the Millenium village building with buffets, live music and kids/adult activites. It cost extra and you can go to Epcot stuff and return. Swan/Dolphin also have similar event.

Is MK the only park that gets that crowded that they shut it down for more guests. Our plan was to Park hop between MK & EPCOT. SO, not such a good idea right?!?!?

I think you'll be okay if you to MK at opening, and then hop over to Epcot. Just don't wait until it's too late.

Oh....ok then. Our plan was to end up at MK. So the best thing to do then is to stay at MK all day?!?!? That is a LONG day.
I guess it is a HUGE chance if we leave to go back to the room for naps & try to head back to MK fot Spectromagic & Fireworks huh?

This may require a different plan. ANy suggestions?::MickeyMo

If you want to end at MK, you really have to go early and plan to stay! It will hit capacity very early in the am and you will not be able to enter after that. I would reverse and plan doing the evening at Epcot (we have done this with no problem on NYE 2003-3)as Epcot is larger and more spread out and handles the crowds better. The evening Illuminations and extra fireworks are fantastic!

Connears....
Thanks for the advice....sounds like a better plan for such a long day. We are traveling with friends who have a 10 yr old. So, I think a little rest in the afternoon is best in order to be out so late. Then we can eat in Epcot...which has many good places.

I just thought MK would be more "kid friendly" for NYE. My hopes was to see Spectromagic.(Our friends & their son have NEVER been to WDW) Hope to catch it another nite during the week we are there. Need those DECEMBER HOURS!!!::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

FYI
Park hours for that whole week are extended to the latest times. Only park that doesn't stay open late is AK. don't worry..between EMH and late night you can enjoy the parks even with the crowds. We have been there the past 2 years for x-mas-NY week and are returning this year. Use FP and just don't expect to be able to commando tour. stop and enjoy the holiday extras!

Thanks for all the advice. Will def. take advantage of the EMH:teeth: and FP for our favorites.

I cannot wait to see everything decorated for the holidays. Hope to get a great pic for next years Christmas card!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo
