New Years Eve 2008-2009

We are going from dec 30th to jan 5th and would love to know this! See you there!!:cheer2:

JMO but I don't think you'll see any discounts during holiday seasons any more - I think mousesavers explains it best:

"The most important change for 2008 that affects vacation packages is Disney's new method of pricing its hotel rooms. There are two major changes in this area.

In the past room rates were based on "seasons" during the year, and during a given season, the room rate per night did not change. That will be different in 2008. While there will still be "seasons," starting in 2008 the rates within those seasons will vary, with weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) and holidays in some seasons being higher priced than weeknights (Sunday through Thursday).

In the past your room rate was based on the date you checked in to the hotel, and that rate carried through your entire stay. Under that policy it was possible, for example, to check in on December 19 (Value Season, the cheapest rates of the year), stay through December 26 and pay the Value Season room rate for the entire stay, even though the Holiday Season (the most expensive rates of the year) started on December 20. Disney has plugged that loophole. Starting in 2008, each night of your stay will be priced separately, and you will be charged the applicable rate for that night. So for example, if you check in on December 18, only that one night will be at the Value Season rates. December 19 and later will be charged at the higher Holiday Season rates. Plus, if some nights of your stay are weekend nights, you'll be charged the higher rate for those".

So it looks like stays from Dec 19 - 31 will be at the $$$ Holiday rate, and then Jan 1, 2009 will go back down. Who knows though - if they don't sell reservations as well as they expect, maybe WDW marketing will offer something after all. :goodvibes

We have gone to WDW the last 2 years over New Years Eve to Jan. 6 and no discounts are offered until after Jan.1st. Just watch the boards for those to pop up. We paid half of the total of two rooms at the end of our vacation (after the 1st.) then at the beginning. (end of Dec.) hope this helps. This last year was VERY crowded!! Also keep and eye on when the Disney marathon is, this also brings in quite a crowd , but fun to watch!! Hope this helps.
