Has anyone stayed at WDW for New Year's Eve? My parents just retired to Florida and I am happily planning our first Christmas with them. They are only an hour from WDW so with our annual passes we'll make lots of day trips. The kids are off school the whole first week of January and I am trying to make some plans for New Year's Eve.
We spent Thanksgiving at WDW 2 years ago and the whole scene was CRAZY! Way too crowded at the parks for fun... We had a lovely time swimming and resort-hopping instead. Can anyone give me any info on what park, if any, might be less crowded? Are the parks open late all that week? Are there special fireworks in the parks? We are thinking that perhaps the sanest thing to do might be to plan a late dinner somewhere (like 'Ohana, maybe) and relax at a resort and watch fireworks from a safe distance. We are thinking of getting a room on property just for the night, too.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
