Hello everyone! This is my first time on this side of the DIS and I hope you lovely people can help answer a few questions for me.

I am currently in Paris with a a group of people and we have decided to go to Disneyland Paris on New Years Day. There is really no other choice of day to go and I know it will be probably incredibly crowded ( I live 4 hours north of Disneyland Anaheim and I know the craziness that happens on that day :goodvibes).

My question is, will they close the park to anyone who is not an AP if it gets incredibly crowded? We plan on tasking the train from the city, getting there right at opening, and not park hopping.

Another question- we do not have tickets yet, can we buy them there or would it be better to buy them ahead of time?

Last question for whose who have been to both the Paris and Anaheim parks, what are the ultimate things that we must see and do? I know that I would love to spend multiple days at the parks but we can't and since it will be crowded, I know we will have to pick and choose what we do. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for all of your help!:goodvibes

You won't have a pb with restricting the entrance numbers on NY day. There will no doubt be a fair few people but it's not going to be like the early December weekends when they got to saturation point ;)

I'd suggest buying a ticket today or tomorrow for the simple reason that it will save you wasting time at the entrance by not queing at the ticket booths.

I don't know where you are in Paris but if you go into Fnac you can get your tickets there.

I'd also get a 2 parks - 1 day ticket as you have the unique rides to DLP in the Studios like Crush and the newly opened Ratatouille :)

It's this one at 80€

Or if you really wanted 1 day-1 park it's this one at 65€

We were at DLP last year for New Years Day and we didn't find the crowds too bad (Jan 2nd was much, much worse!) I have been to both Disneyland and Disneyland Paris so might be able to help a bit with what to make a priority. I would definately explore the castle, go up it and under it. BTMRR is different to at Disneyland, it goes under the lake to its own island. Phantom Manor is also different, it is located in a different area of the park and has a different storyline. Space Mountain is also different, in Paris it is a high speed looping rollercoaster. Fantasyland is also different, the Alice in Wonderland maze is unique to DLP. Another ride unique to DLP is the Indiana Jones rollercoaster, again a looping coaster.

I would suggest getting 2 park tickets, you will be able to hop easily as the parks are close together like at Anaheim. The new ratatouille area is beautiful, the ride is also unique to DLP and the restaurant there, Bistro Chez Remy, is highly recommended. Also in the Studios park you have Toy Story Playland and Rock n Rollercoaster, both of which are not at Anaheim. As it will be cold there are also some shows in the studios that you can see to warm up in which are again unique to DLP.

If you are able to stay for the full day, I highly recommend staying to watch Disney Dreams of Christmas. This is the firework, projection, fountain show on the castle at park closing time.

We will also be in the parks on New Years Day again this year and we intend do do attractions in both parks.

Just one other thing to be aware of. At Paris the fast pass system is like the old fast pass system in the US parks where you get tickets from a machine using your entrance tickets. I would probably make BTMRR and Ratatouille a priority for fast pass.

Hope this helps you, enjoy your trip.

I also agree with what Danauk said about the comparisons with DLP and DL but would also add Pirates as being much better at DLP - the drops are steeper and the whole ride is run in a different order (ending with the caves). Even the queuing area into the ride is much better as well as its much further into the caves so can't be seen from outside at all.

Although you can get a FP for the new Ratatouille ride its much quicker doing it single rider if you can - you often end up in the same 'car' or in the next one anyhow. The FP queue and disabled queue are the same and we noticed it was especially busy during times that hotel FP can be used - (they can't be used between 1 and 4 I think it was)
