How crowded will Epcot be on New Year's Day? Trying to decide between universal studios and epcot.

Thanks!

Hi there.

DH and I went to Epcot on New Years Day last year and it was, well, dead in our opinions. In fact, it was far less busy then than when we went this last October. Oh, and we showed up around 11! So we didn't even get there early. And we had no trouble getting a PS for Teppanyaki that morning. When we went through the gates we were told the park was filled to capacity the night before.

That was my experience, at least. Maybe it was a fluke year.

I am glad that you had such a good experience at Epcot last year...I was there last year as well and I wish that I had had such an easy time of it. There were so many people there that my DS adn I had to leave around 8:00pm. We got stuck in a human traffic jam in both Mexico and Canada. People were becoming panicky and shoving other people and almost trampled small children. The CM's were having to scream over everyone's talking and yelling to tell them how to get moving again....it was funny, but not fun. My opinion is to avoid the parks at all costs on NYE or get there early, find a spot, and stay there until midnight.

Thanks, but I asked about New Year's Day, not New Year's Eve.

Just a hunch, but with NY day being a Sunday, I would think many travelers would need to head home to go back to work/school on Monday. :confused3 :earsboy:

Oh no, we weren't there on New Years EVE...we went on New Year's DAY and we both thought it was wonderfully un-crowded.

When we were purchasing our tickets, the booth dude told us that NYE did sell out the previous day. So no wonder we had different experiences!

ooooohhh....I thought you were there on NYE....it was crazy that night...NYD was a lot better....I was also amazed at how quickly things cleared out....sorry I misread the original post!!
